Her father, John George Whitfield McIver is a photographer, her mother is an artist and her brother, who is older than she is, is a musician and a former actor.

Rose’s known education history starts at Avondale College, where she was a model student and was appointed as a school prefect in her final year of school. Rose started her acting career at the age of two, playing an angel in The Piano. She appeared in a few low-level works in New Zealand before her first appearance in a major production in 2009’s The Lovely Bones by famous director, Peter Jackson. Her first theater appearance was in 2003 in a play titled Arcadia in the Titirangi Theatre. Since then, she’s appeared in two more theater productions, Blood Brothers in 2008 and That Face in 2010.

Looking to further her career past local productions in New Zealand, Rose McIver put her education at the University of Auckland on hold and moved to Los Angeles. Her move to Hollywood has proven to be a decent success thus far. She was cast in an MTV production, Cassandra French’s Finishing School for Boys, as the lead actor. She also appeared in the Masters of Sex as a recurring character.

However, her biggest gig since she made the move to Hollywood, came in 2014 when she was announced as the lead actress in the CW’s new show, iZombie. The critically acclaimed show stars Rose McIver as Olivia Moore.
