Her place of birth is in Belfast, Northern Ireland which makes her an Irish national though she still holds Australian nationality but her ethnicity is white. She came into the world on the 10th of November 1962 but spent her formative years in Australia where her father relocated the family when she was eight. Nothing is known about her parents, we were only able to get from the available records that her mother is of Irish origin while her dad is German.

A delve into her educational background reveals that she is an alumnus of the Australian National University located in Canberra where she bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. After having a foretaste of reporting, the determined young scholar made the conscious decision to further her education; she went back to the university to earn a masters in Media and Law.

Prior to her time at CNN, she was at ABC News, she worked as a newsreader cum reporter with Australian Broadcasting Corporation in news, as well as their current affairs division. She functioned as the anchor for the summer edition of The World at Noon, as well as the evening news in Tasmania. She was on Network Ten anchoring weekend news and put in five years at the National Media Liaison Service in Canberra. She is in a happily-ever-after marriage relationship with her husband Patrick O’Byrne with whom she tied the connubial knot in 1995. They met on a show that was anchored by Rosemary and dated for two years and six months before deciding to take it to the ultimate conclusion. Patrick is in an entirely different profession, He is a known employee of the health services, professionally registered as a nurse, and he functions as a professor at the University of Ottawa. Several CIHR funded sessions host him as a guest lecturer, he is a Ph.D. degree holder.

The duo has been together for over 20 years but they are still going as strong as ever. Although they rarely make public appearances together, they share a very strong bond with each other. Rosemary Church is a doting mother to her brood of three. Her oldest child is a girl called Madeline while the two younger ones Hanna (girl) and James (boy) are twins. Despite her busy schedule at CNN, she makes out quality time to spend with her family on cozy family dinners, rafting and having leisure time at the beach. The news anchor is also into extreme sports like skiing, cycling, jogging and boating.
