She is an American music elite, an award-winning artist, and multi-instrumentalist of Dallas, Texas, origin. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the 28th day of September 1982 and was named Annie Erin Clark. Her parents ended their marital relationship three years after St Vincent was born and at the age of seven, the musician, her mother (an administrator for a non-profit organization and social worker), and two older sisters relocated to Dallas, leaving their father behind in Tulsa.

St Vincent, who was raised a Catholic, is of Ashkenazi Jewish and Irish ethnicity. She has eight siblings (four brothers and four sisters) from her parents’ blended families. The musician attended Lake Highlands High School, from where she graduated in 2011 after taking part in her school theatrical productions and jazz band performances. Notably, the multi-instrumentalist was a classmate of popular Hollywood actor .

The Tulsa-born performer spent three years studying music at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, after which she dropped out to start making music.

By 2018, the musician had released her sixth studio album (MassEducation). In addition to this, she did a collaborate album with titled: Love This Giant in 2012. She has her own live band and cites stars like, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Kate Bush, and Siouxsie and the Banshees as major musical influences.
