Who is Alaina Huffman?

The television and film actress was born on April 17, 1980, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Her birth name is Alaina Kalanj, she only bears the surname “Huffman” by reason of her marriage to actor John Henry Huffman. She is a regular face on Canadian TV shows and is widely known for the character Maureen Bowers which she beautifully portrays in the Canadian TV show, Painkiller Jane.

Huffman has always been interested in acting from an early age. She attended the Goulbourn Middle School in Canada and participated in her first movie audition when she was just thirteen years of age. Huffman got the lead role, to the amazement of all observers despite more professional actors being available for the same role. She also tried her hands at modeling very early on in life too but couldn’t make a career out of it as she was still under her parents and since they decided to move to the United States, it disrupted her Canadian connections in the modeling business.

Now in the US, the family settled in Dallas, Texas and Huffman attended college there. It became an opportunity to go into acting as she did some acting jobs in college and took up independent movie roles and carried on from there even after college. She moved to Los Angeles and has since starred in big film projects and TV series which include Smallville, Stargate Universe, and Supernatural.

Still finding out about the Canadian screen diva, it is safe to say she looks like she was groomed for the entertainment industry. Career

Her career in film and acting began at an early age when she got her first acting role in her first ever audition at age 13. The talented Alaina beat off all competition and landed the lead role for Fox Family Channel pilot. At the time she was fourteen, she was scouted by a modeling firm to be part of an international fashion runway across Europe and Asia, but that again was aborted as her parent had to move to the United States of America.

After deciding to settle for a career in the screens, the roles kept coming. She made her professional acting debut in 2001 as Cherry in the film Indefinitely. She got a role in another film Pendulum in the same year. The following years saw her feature consistently in both TV and movie roles such as Serving Sara (2002), Quiet Desperation (2003), Night Dawn Day (2004), Standing Still (2005), Smallville (2007-2011), CSI: Miami (2008), Amber (2016), etc.

She was a regular cast on the TV series Stargate Universe (2009-2011) where she played the character Tamara Johansen but she moved on to appear in another series, Supernatural upon the cancellation of the former. Huffman played the character of Abaddon/Josie Sands in 8 episodes of the series between 2013 and 2014.

Alaina Huffman was married to John Henry Huffman IV. John Henry was her longtime boyfriend before they tied the nuptial knots. They dated for a while and it is not known how the couple met or when they did meet. It is also not known if there was any relationship before John Henry as she keeps her affair to herself. Alaina and John got married on New Year’s Eve in 2003 and welcomed their first child in 2004. It is reported that she was pregnant before the wedding judging that the child was born just five months after their wedding.

Despite the fact that there was no news of a misunderstanding between the couple, they were divorced in 2016, bring an end to a 12-year union which has produced four children. Alaina announced that she had separated from her husband and was single again. The announcement sent the internet into a frenzy as no one saw it coming. Till date, it is not known why they annulled their marriage of 12 years which seemed perfect from the outside.

The divorce brings a sad end to a marriage that produced four children – Elijah, who was born May 30, 2004, Hanna, born May 24, 2006, Charley Jane, born December 8, 2009, and Lincoln Juliu, born December 15, 2011. One of her pregnancies (for her third child, Charlie Jane Huffman) was conceived at the time she was acting the first season of the TV series, Stargate Universe and was written into the plot of the series.
