Amy Carlson is a free-spirited adventurer and every member of her family shares the same trait. However, her parents, Bob Carlson and Barb Carlson, who were teachers, were offered an opportunity to come to teach in Amman, Jordan. They accepted the offer and moved with Amy and her siblings – Betsy, Lori, and Joe – to the little Middle Eastern country where they would spend a year. Amy was 13 years old at the time.
Upon her return to the US, Amy enrolled at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She was active in the school’s theatre department and was involved in a slew of stage plays including Noises Off, A Lie of the Mind, and Fifth of July. She moved on from the institution in 1978 having graduated cum laude.
Carlson’s big screen soap opera debut came in 1993. She was selected to play the role of Josie Watts in the soap opera Another World.
