More than just being a former horsewoman and the love of William Shatner’s life, Elizabeth Shatner found purpose in being a digital artist and a photographer. She has had a thriving career as a professional equine judge and horse trainer. Elizabeth rode her first horse when she was five and immediately fell in love with the thrill and art. That wasn’t enough for her, so she dabbled into acting, appearing in a number of documentaries and TV shows. Away from her love for horses and her very successful career in the equine world, Elizabeth is actively involved in charity work. Elizabeth Shatner – Bio
It was on the 30th of December and in the year 1958 that Elizabeth Shatner was birthed. It is said that she started nurturing her love for horses at a tender age and learned how to ride when she was only five. After her 8th birthday, she was presented with her first of many horses, a Gailceno pony that she absolutely adored. Soon enough, her skill and horse riding abilities improved tremendously and she began to teach horseback riding. She got invited to join several judge panels in equine competitions. She graduated from Purdue University, where she bagged a degree in Equine and Animal Science. Afterwards, she started working as a professional trainer.
After she retired as a horsewoman, Elizabeth struggled to find a new direction in life that could incorporate her love for nature and still bring her as much joy as her former career. While she was on a safari vacation in Israel with her husband, she began taking photographs of the scenery and became deeply appreciative of art as a medium of expression. From that moment, she began pursuing a career as an artist, utilizing colours, shapes, light, and bringing them to life in a poignant and unique way in her creations.
Elizabeth Shatner began working on a series called Art by Nature which comprised of digitally painted pictures of horses. It was a perfect blend of her life’s passions and she donated a portion of the sales money from her art to charities focused on helping animals. Although she has committed to this new career as an artist, the former horsewoman has not abandoned the first profession she fell in love with. She is still an active judge in several horse-related competitions. When she is not judging, she is busy competing with her own trained horses or breeding them to do so. She has ranked in top positions at several horse-related competitions including the 2011 Word Championship Horse Show in which she came third.

Leslie and William met in 2001 when they were both mourning the loss of their spouses. Leslie’s husband of 15 years, Michael Gleen Martin passed away in 1997, while William’s third wife Bernie Kidd Shatner accidentally drowned in 1999, just two years into their marriage.
William was married to Gloria Rand, with whom he had three children: Leslie, Lisabeth, and Melanie. Their union lasted from 1956 to 1969. In 1973, he tied the knot with Marcy Lafferty, and their divorce was finalized in 1996.
