The actress, Samaire Rhys Armstrong was born to a Scottish father, Hunter Armstrong who teaches soldiers close combat training and to an Italian mother, Sylvia Sepielli who designs spas for resorts on October 31, 1980, in Tokyo, Japan.
She spent part of her early years in Japan where she lived for five years before moving to Hawaii. Samaire has also lived in some other Asian countries such as Malaysia and China. However, she grew up in Sedona, Arizona where she attended Sedona Red Rock High School. While in high school, she played volleyball for two years and was an MVP before she turned her focus to drama and was cast in almost all of her school’s productions.
After she graduated from high school, Samaire Armstrong enrolled at the University of Arizona to major in costume design and theatre but left after a year. She attended the university with actress Heather Blair and basketball player .

1. Her name is of Irish origin
Her first name, Samaire which is pronounced Sah-mee-rah is a Gaelic name and it means dawning sun. The name was taken from a book her father was reading while her mother was pregnant. For three months, her parents pronounced the name as “Sam-air” until they were taught how to pronounce it in its proper Irish form. Her nickname is Sasa.
2. Samaire Armstrong’s Career
Samaire has acted both in television shows and in films. She made her acting debut as Meredith in 2000 on TV in an episode of the Fox drama Party of Five. This was followed by guest roles in top-notch television shows such as The X-Files, ER, Judging Amy, and Freaks and Geeks. However, her role on the Fox teen drama television series, The O.C. where she portrayed Anna Stern in 2003 brought her to fame.
Other TV shows she has to her credit include Entourage, CSI: Miami, Living with Fran, How to Make it in America, The Mentalist, NYPD Blue, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy in guest roles, and as a regular in the ABC’s drama/comedy television series, Dirty Sexy Money, Resurrection.
Her film debut came in 2001 in the parody film Not Another Teen Movie where she played the role of one of the conjoined twins, Kara Fratelli. Just My Luck (2006) as Maggie alongside , the horror film Stay Alive (2006) where she played a lead role as Abigail, the Canadian comedy film, It’s a Boy Girl Thing (2006) as Nell Bedworth are among her early roles.

As earlier mentioned, Samaire was born in Japan where she lived for a number of years. She was raised in a family which is heavily involved in Marines and where close combat training was the norm. She also learned Judo and received Japanese sword training. That left her with the mentality that she has to be able to defend herself.
Her family owns a training center called Spartan Training Center in Sedona, Arizona. And by the time she was two years into her teens, she could clean 135 lb and quarter squat 315 lb. She also used to work out with her father twice or three times a week before school at 6:30 a.m.
Samaire Armstrong can be called a serial monogamist when it comes to working out. She can spend three months going to Bikram Yoga at 6:30 a.m., and then the next three months hiking every afternoon. Pilates would come next and then the others may follow. According to her, doing Pilates consistently three to four times a week had an amazing effect on really toning and shaping a tight waist and legs.
Although she never pushes herself to do exercise, Samaire has spent most of her life doing some sort of exercise. She knows when she is up to it; when she is in the mood and does not turn it into a do or die affair of feel bad when she does not get to exercise. No wonder, she has always managed to look incredibly chic and adorable.
