You may be wondering what he has to do with the case, find out his background, involvement with the case and what he is up to currently including information about his various sojourns in marriage below.

Background Information

Mark Fuhrman is a former Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detective who was born on the 5th of February 1952 in Eatonville, Washington. His parents were reported to have gotten divorced when the lad was just seven years old which saw his mother remarrying afterward. It is not known if he had any siblings or not.

The retired detective attended Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington and later enlisted to serve in the United States Marine Corps in the year 1970 when he was 18. In the Marine Corps, Mark was trained as a machine gunner and a military policeman after which he got deployed to serve in the Vietnam War and rose to the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1975.

After his time in the military, he returned to California and joined the Los Angeles Police Academy where he graduated as a distinguished Cadet, second in his class in 1975. He became a police detective in 1989 and served in the police force for a total of 20 years with over 55 commendations before his retirement in the year 1995.

Mark Fuhrman became famous for being involved in the high profiled investigation of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Lyle Goldman in the O.J. Simpson murder case of 1995. He was called to give an account of his investigation and he reported having found 2 blood-stained gloves but had entered the Simpson’s estate without a search warrant. The Simpson’s defense counsel alleged he had planted the gloves and also questioned him about his use of a racial slur against African-Americans in the 80s.

The Washington born ex-detective denied these claims but evidence and witnesses tendered and produced by the Simpson defense team proved convincingly otherwise when they made available recorded interviews of him making use of inappropriate words to describe African-Americans. In the course of this case, he retired from the LAPD in 1995 and Dan Lungren, the Attorney General filed charges of perjury against him in 1996 to which he pleaded no contest to perjury for his false testimony and to his use of racial epithets.

What Happened To Mark Fuhrman And Where Is He Now?

Fuhrman apologized for his use of racist comments and the charges against him were later dropped. He insists that he did not plant any exhibit in the Simpson’s case and opines that Simpson is guilty but is free because of the failure of detectives to enter his evidence into the chain of custody and unwillingness of the prosecution team to convincingly argue their case.

Based on the Simpson’s murder case, he wrote the book Murder in Brentwood and Murder in Greenwich which was later adapted into a television movie in 2002. In addition to his literary works, Mark Fuhrman has published a book on the John F. Kennedy assassination and another about a serial killer, capital punishment – Terry Schiavo. He has hosted a couple of radio shows and is a forensic and crime scene expert for Fox News where he is often a guest of Fox commentator . Since his retirement, he is known to be an author and a radio host.
