Chris Sacca is a renowned American Lawyer, private equity adviser, and entrepreneur who is best known for his signature cowboy shirts.
Known also as a venture investor, Sacca is the proprietor of Lowercase Capital, an investment firm best known for its early stage funding of such companies as Uber, Kickstarter, Twitter and Instagram. Today, he is being mentioned as one of the wealthiest investors to have appeared on Shark Tank.
Biography
Chris was born Christopher Sacca on the 12th day in the month of May 1975. He was born in Lockport, New York, United States and raised in a suburb of Buffalo by Gerald Sacca, an attorney and Katherine Sacca who was a professor at SUNY Buffalo State. Sacca’s father is of Italian while his mother is of Irish descent but his family has its root from Calabria Italy.
Sacca has a number of siblings among which is Brian Sacca, his younger brother who is now an actor and comedian. From his teenage days, Sacca and his siblings were exposed to several lucrative and creative projects as much as they were engrossed in their education, visiting science museums and attending book-reading events. While in Lockport High School, he was proficient in science courses, including mathematics which made him further his education at the State University of New York at Buffalo where he studied advanced mathematics for six years.
Sacca also attended The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he graduated in 1997 as a Weeks Family Foundation Scholar. In addition to this, Sacca enrolled as a member of the Tax Lawyer law review where he received the Philip A. Ryan and Ralph J. Gilbert Memorial Scholar honour upon graduation.
Career History- From Debt to a Billionaire
Sacca’s career as an entrepreneur began while he was still in law school. He began when he established a business of his own through a student loan which he collected. Unfortunately, the business failed even while it was still about to rise. Nevertheless, being strong-minded, Sacca began a new trading business on the stock market with the little money he had remaining. Between 1998 and 2000, he was able to turn a few of his dollars to millions of dollars by exploiting a flaw he discovered in the software of online trading brokers. The business. However crashed before Sacca could redeem his money, leading to his $4 million debt – an amount he borrowed from friends to invest in the business. To redeem his status as a lawyer, he decided to create a repayment schedule with his broker.
Within the same year, Sacca was fortunate enough to land himself a job at Fenwick & West in Silicon Valley where he worked as a business associate, handling venture capital, acquisitions, mergers, and licensing transactions for technology clients like Macromedia, VeriSign, and Kleiner Perkins. This marked the beginning of a major breakthrough for the young entrepreneur and lawyer. Although he was Laid off after about 13 months of his service in the firm, Sacca took it as a golden opportunity to attend several networking events and then established a firm which he named The Salinger Group for his networking business which earned him steady payments and incentives.
Eventually, in November 2003, Sacca secured a new job with Google where he was hired as Corporate Counsel reporting to General Counsel David Drummond. Part of his job at the multinational technology company was to create data centres by negotiating and signing agreements around the world. Sacca’s hard work and dedication actually paid off. Within a short period of his service at the Multinational technology company, he was singled out as one of the founding members of the company’s New Business Development organization and was among the first Google employees given the Founders’ Award, the company’s highest honour.
After paying off his debts, Chris Sacca left Google in 2007 and joined the Silicon Valley as its angel investor. There, he served as a professional advisor to several companies on a variety of matters including how to raise money or when and how to buy/sell a company. Not long after, he founded a venture capital firm Lowercase Capital to fund and provide advice to start-ups and growing companies. From 2013 to 2016, he was already successful in his business, appearing as a guest shark on the 14th episode of the 7th season of ABC’s reality show Shark Tank and making a number of investments throughout 7th and 8th seasons. Today, Chris Sacca is worth about $1.15 Billion, according to Forbes 2018.
