Kelly Preston is an American actress and former model who has been active in Hollywood since 1980 and has starred in several television and film productions. Some of her notable pieces include Broken Bridges, Jerry Maguire, Battlefield Earth, Old Dogs, Twins, etc

Biography (Age)

The popular actress who we all know today as Kelly Preston was born October 13, 1962, Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her father worked for an agricultural company before he drowned while her mother worked as an administrator in a mental health center. After her father’s death, her mother remarried and her step-father Peter Palzis, adopted her and she adopted his name which she used till 1984. She attended Pembroke School Adelaide, Punahou School, and then the University of Southern California, where she bagged a degree in Drama and Theater. Kelly has a half-brother named Chris Palzis.

Career

Kelly’s career as a model began at age 16 when she was spotted by an Australian fashion photographer, who got her on some commercials and also helped organise her first film audition for a role in 1980’s The Blue Lagoon, unfortunately, she didn’t get the role she auditioned for.

Her first film role, however, came in 1985 when she starred as Marilyn McCauley in teen flick Mischief. From then on, she appeared in many other blockbuster movies like the 1988 motion picture hit movie Twins, alongsideShe played Avery Bishop in the 1996 movie Jerry Maguire. She was Jane Aubrey in For Love of the Game and also starred in Holy Man alongside . In 2000, Kelly featured in Battlefield Earth and in 2005’s film Sky High. For her role in Battlefield Earth, Kelly received Worst Supporting Actress at the 21st Golden Raspberry Awards.

Her other movies include The Tenth Circle, Medium, and many more. Apart from acting, the award-winning actress has been a spokeswoman for Neutrogena since 2005, appearing in both their print and television advertisements. She also appeared in the Maroon 5 music video She Will Be Loved. Kelly was nominated for the 2004 Golden Raspberry Award as Worst Supporting Actress for her role in Dr Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat, and in 2010 for her role in Old Dogs.

Although currently married to John Travolta, Kelly Preston was once married to Kevin Gage from 1985 to 1987. After her marriage to Gage failed, she dated and later who she became engaged to in 1990, but she finally tied the knot with Travolta in 1991.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston first met in 1987 while filming The Experts back in 1987. Kelly was married to Gage at the time and John was dating Marilu Henner. After divorcing Gage, Kelly and John began seeing each other and in 1991, they got married in a quiet but romantic wedding in Paris, France. The couple who are both loyal members of the Church of Scientology, wanted their wedding officiated by a Scientologist, thus, there was the need for a second marriage ceremony which took place just a week after the first in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The couple has remained together ever since and had three children – Jett( 1992 – 2009), Ella Bleu(2000), and Benjamin (2010).

Jett was only two years old when he was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease (a health condition common among children) which causes the inflammation of the arteries. He also had asthma and autism, these health conditions affected his development, both physically and mentally. He died in January 2009 after hitting his head on a bathtub while on Christmas vacation with his family at their home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. In memory of Jett, John Travolta founded the Jett Travolta Foundation, an NGO aimed at helping children with special needs.

Unfortunately, the marriage between the two has been bedevilled with too many rumors. In 2010, Travolta was caught by paparazzi kissing another man on the mouth, and this got everyone including his wife wondering if he is gay but he denied the rumors.

Moreso, there have been recent rumors that the couple may be heading to the court soon to terminate their 26-year-old marriage, this, however, not been confirmed by either of the party. We just hope it ends up as just mere rumors.
