Lesley Manville is an English actress whose expertise in theatre, film and television has earned him several nominations and awards like the London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actress of the Year, the National Board of Review Award for Best Actress and an Oscar nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in the movie Phantom Thread.

Manville was born as Lesley Ann Manville on the 12th day of March 1956 in Brighton, East Sussex to a former ballet dancer, Jean and a taxi driver Ron Manville. She was raised in Hove and trained as a soprano singer from an early age that before the age of eighteen, she had become a two times champion of Sussex.

Career
Manville began acting as a teenager, appearing in television series such as King Cinder. At the age of 15, she gained a place at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Her first professional debut came when she starred in a 1972 West End musical I and Albert, this was followed by ITV soap opera Emmerdale Farm. She was in the series from 1974 – 1974 appearing in a total of 80 episodes.
From 1978 – 1990, she built a distinguished career as a stage actress, appearing in so many plays like Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Top Girls, Serious Money, As You Like It, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Cherry Orchard and Three Sisters.
She took a little break from stage acting to, pursue acting in movies. During that period, she starred in some TV and filim productions.
Her television credits include prominent roles in the dramas Holding On Real Women The Cazalets, North & South Cranford, Cards on the Table, a 2006 feature-length episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot.
By 2005, she was back on stage, appearing in several National Theatre productions, including His Dark Materials, Her Naked Skin, The Alchemist. The Old Vic’s productions of All About My Mother, Six Degrees of Separation and the 2009 Channel 4 drama The Queen are just a few of other films she appeared in.
Her most recent work is in the 2017 breathtaking movie, Phantom Thread, where she starred alongside as the sister, Cyril Woodcock. For this role alone, Manville received BAFTA and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress.
She received the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2015 Birthday Honours.

Her Relationship With Gary Oldman
The multi-award-winning actress was married to co-actor from 1987-1990. They met while working at the Royal Court Theatre.
Three months after their son, Alfie, was born in 1989, Oldman left her. Manville got married again to Joe Dixon in 2000 but the couple separated in 2004.
