She may not be a blockbuster staple, but Caitlin McHugh has proven to be quite a talented actress. In addition to acting, McHugh who is blessed with a tall height and beautiful looks doubles as a model. She began acting in 2007, taking up bit parts in films and TV shows. Fans of the hit show The Vampire Diaries would remember her for her recurring role as Sloan, a character she portrayed in four episodes. In recent years, McHugh has been more in the news for her growing family which she began building in 2018 with another Hollywood sweetheart who is best known for his role in Fuller House and Scream Queens.

McHugh, who now goes by Caitlin McHugh Stamos was born as Caitlin Maureen Empeno McHugh on the 13th of May 1986 in Santa Monica, California. For her high school education, McHugh chose to attend an all-girls Catholic high school in La Cañada Flintridge called Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. After graduating from the school in 2004, she proceeded to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to study contemporary dance, however, she left the school two years later in 2006 to focus on her acting career.

Standing at a height of 5 feet 8 inches which is quite tall for a lady, McHugh came equipped for modeling. Signed to the prestigious Wilhelmina Models, McHugh has featured in ad campaigns for some top brands. She featured in a TV ad for Colgate toothpaste and for the automobile brand Buick for their commercial for Encore in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

Acting Career

Caitlin McHugh’s acting career began officially in the year 2007. Her debut role was a small one in the 2007 post-apocalyptic film, I Am Legend which starred Will Smith. McHugh played the role of a special blonde model. Later that same year, she had a small role in the short film Passing Trains: A Love Story. From 2008, she appeared to be focused more on the small screen. McHugh got a small part in TV film Blue Blood. It was her only acting job that year. In 2009, she had two minor roles in the TV shows – Castle and Kings.

Between 2011 and 2013, McHugh had bit parts in TV shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Rescue Me, Alleged, as well as the 2013 TV film, Guilty where she portrayed the role of Lindsay Sevrin. Caitlin McHugh’s career went a notch higher when she booked her first recurring role ever as Sloan in the 2014 season of the CW hit teen supernatural series, The Vampire Diaries. The following year in 2015, she appeared in an episode of Switched at Birth and also acted in the drama film, Tomato Soup. Her other credits include the 2016 film, 48 Hours to Live, TV series, NCIS: Los Angeles, and the 2017 film, Random Tropical Paradise.

Caitlin McHugh’s parents are named Leilani (née Empeno) and Timothy McHugh. They live their lives away from the media and due to this, little to nothing is publicly known about them. As a result of her parent’s origins, McHugh is of Irish and Filipino descent.

Caitlin McHugh has also become a parent herself after she welcomed her first child, a son named Billy Stamos on the 10th of April 2018. McHugh had the baby with her husband, actor John Stamos whom she married two months before the baby’s arrival. Baby Billy was named after John Stamos’ father William “Bill” Stamos, a Greek restaurateur. The boy’s middle name “Christopher Robin” was inspired by the Winnie-the-Pooh character.

Caitlin McHugh and Stamos’ February 2018 marriage was not the first for each one of them as they had both been previously married. Stamos was previously married to actress and model, from September 19, 1998, to March 1, 2005, Caitlin McHugh, on the other hand, was previously married to restaurateur Massimo Lusardi from June 3, 2011, to 2014. None of their previous marriages produced a child.

Though McHugh and John Stamos began dating in 2017, they first met back in 2011 on the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Ironically, Stamos’ character was a wired guy who thought he should “spread his progeny” and McHugh was one of the girls he was trying to have a child with after fathering 60 kids with other women. They didn’t meet again until years later when McHugh’s friend and roommate got a role in an episode of Stamos’ Full House.
