She shot into the limelight in 1983 when she starred in the hit romantic comedy film, Risky Business and her Hollywood career has spanned well over 3 decades. She was born Rebecca Jane Pearch on the 29th day of August and in the year 1959. Her place of birth was in Rosa, California, and she was born to Julie (née Eagar) and Wally George (born George Walter Pearch), a DJ-turned-TV presenter. Her paternal grandmother Eugenia Clinchard was a child actress in the early 20th century.
Her parents’ marriage ended in a divorce when she was 2 years old and a few years later, her mother remarried. Rebecca was eventually adopted by her stepfather and she took up his last name – De Mornay. Following the untimely passing of her step-father, Rebecca, her mother and her half-brother Peter, all moved to Europe. There, she had her early education at Summerhill School located in Leiston, Suffolk, England and later schooled at a German-speaking high school after the family moved to Austria. She also studied acting at Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City.
Rebecca De Mornay got her first professional acting role as an extra in the movie One from the Heart (1981). Two years later, she got her breakout role in the coming-of-age film Risky Business (1983) starring opposite . De Mornay had a rather strained relationship with her father. He died on October 5, 2003, at Fountain Valley Hospital in California after suffering pneumonia.
