The American Legal Luminary cum Business Executive was born with the full name Ajit Varadaraj Pai, on the 10th of January 1973, in the small city of Buffalo, New York, USA. After his birth, his parents Radha Pai and Varadaraj Pai, both immigrants from India, moved to Kansas and this was where he grew up. His father Varadaraja worked as a doctor specialized in urology and his mother Radha is also a doctor with a speciality in anesthesiology.

Ajit Pai studied at Parsons High School in Kansas, before he moved to further his education at Harvard University, where he graduated in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies. After this, he applied to study Law at the University of Chicago Law School where he subsequently graduated from after three years.

Professional Career

Upon graduation, Ajit Pai began his legal career first as a clerk working for Justice Martin Leach-Cross Feldman – a former Judge of the United States under the District Court of Louisiana. He then moved to Washington DC where he started working as a trial lawyer focused on telecommunications issues under the US Department of Justice. However, after working for a while for the department, Ajit left to join Verizon Communication Incorporated as an Associate General Lawyer.

Two years into his work with Verizon, the lawyer left them to work for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and as a Deputy Chief Attorney but it only lasted for a while as he went back to the US Department of Justice to work under the Legal Policy Department as the Senior Attorney and he headed this department for more than a year before he got a promotion to be Chief Attorney.

In 2007, Ajit Pai was employed to work with the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), and for over four years, he headed numerous vital portfolios for the commission and was even the FCC’s, General Attorney. He served so zealously in this position that his impact was recognized to the extent that it influenced the US government to select him to be the Chairman of the Federal Communication Commission – which came after series of screening in the American Senate during President ’s regime and he was in this position for a period of five years.

At the end of the first five years, the brilliant lawyer was re-appointed by the present American President  through the confirmation of the Senate who endorsed him for a second tenure in office as the Chairman of the commission for another five years. Ajit Pai currently stands as the Executive Chairman of this Commission and he is notably doing a great job in his capacity at the Federal Communication Commission.

Family Life Of The FCC Chairman

Flipping over to the family life of the Indian-American Lawyer, it is worthy to note that Ajit Pai is a happily married man with children. His life as a bachelor ended in 2010 after he got married to his lover Janine Van Lacker who is a medical practitioner by profession with a speciality in allergies.
