Amy Irving has been acting since when she didn’t even know what acting was – she was just 9 months old when she made her very first stage appearance. Amy Irving – Biography

Amy Davis Irving was born on the 10th day of September 1953 in Palo Alto, California to Jewish film director, Jules Irving and actress Priscilla Pointer. She was raised alongside her two siblings who, like her, both have active careers in the entertainment industry. Her brother David Irving followed in their father’s footsteps to become a film director and writer while her sister Katie Irving is a singer who also teaches deaf kids.

Amy Irving was an infant when her father had established the San Fransisco theatre company, Actor’s Workshop in San Francisco. At the time, her father would use her for many of his productions, thus, Irving grew to love stage acting. At 12 years old, she made her debut Broadway appearance as a walk-on on the show, The Country Wife. She would come to receive training from the American Conservatory Theater, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and the Professional Children’s School in Manhattan.

Her first Off-Broadway appearance came when she was 17 years old. Amy Irving went on to earn critical acclaim for her subsequent stage performances. She began her screen career in 1975, making her debut in an episode of the show, The Rookies. She went on to appear in other TV shows before making her motion picture debut in the horror film, Carrie. Some of her early films would come to include; The FuryVoicesHoneysuckle RoseThe Competition, ‘s directorial debut, Yentl, among others.

She made her final Broadway appearance on The Coast of Utopia Part 1 and 2 in 2006/2007. Amy Irving continues to work in the industry, albeit occasionally. Some of her recent films include Adam (2009) and Unsane (2018).

Amy Irving has had a very successful career, however, her net worth of $120 million only has little to do with her acting ability. Spouse

Amy Irving is currently married to her third husband Kenneth Bowser Jr. who is a documentary filmmaker. The couple tied the knot on the 1st of November 2007 and have since remained together as a couple. In addition to documentaries, Irving’s spouse also directs feature films and episodic TV. He particularly has a skill in crafting stories in line with the American culture. He is a New Yorker and was born in February 1951.

A lot of Bowser’s works have earned recognition from the top awarding bodies in the industry. He produced and directed the documentary, Preston Sturges: The Rise And Fall Of An American Dreamer which earned an Emmy Award. Live From New York, the NBC 2-hour special which he writes, produces, and directs, earned an Emmy nomination. His other Emmy-nominated works include; John Ford/John Wayne, and The Filmmaker and The Legend.

Out of Amy Irving’s three spouses, Kenneth Bowser is the least known. Before her marriage to the documentary filmmaker, the actress was married to legendary filmmaker  from 1985 to 1989 and then to Brazilian film director Bruno Barreto from 1996 to 2005. Irving has no children with her current spouse Kenneth Bowser but has two sons; Bruno Barreto (born in 1983) and Gabriel Davis (born in 1990) with Spielberg and Barreto respectively.
