The Modern Family star was born to Crystal and Glenn Workman on January 28, 1998, in the city of Los Angeles, California. Two of her siblings – Shanelle and Jimmy Workman are also doing well in the entertainment industry as actors. From her mother’s side, Ariel Winters got a Greek ancestry and bears the Greek name, Eleftheria, meaning ‘liberty’.

Acting Career

At the age of four, Ariel Winter took part in a Cool Whip commercial advertisement which marked her entrance into the world of entertainment in 2002. Before her major role in the Modern Family series (2009), the actress debuted on television in an episode of Listen Up! as well as other shows like Freddie, Monk, Bones, and ER which all recorded remarkable commercial success.

Her voice can be heard as that of Gretchen in the animated children’s show Phineas and Ferb. More of her voice roles include Marina the Mermaid on Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Sofia in Sofia the First which premiered in 2013 on Disney Junior. Ariel Winter’s Relationship With Her Mother

Unlike what would have been anticipated, the actress and her mother Crystal have a strained relationship with each other. If the stories making the rounds are anything to go by, her mother tried to take advantage of her status as an actress by making her do things girls her age can only fantasize about. According to Ariel, she was sexualized at the tender age of 7 and was compelled to dress in indecent clothes, causing her to look and act older than her age. She asserted that her mother wouldn’t have blinked an eye before giving her consent for her to play a nude scene.

The situation got so bad that her older sister who was already an adult filed for guardianship in October 2012. In her report, her sister Shanelle Workman alleged that their mother has become a source of physical and emotional abuse to young Ariel. Though the case lingered for a while, Shanelle was able to get guardianship on May 5, 2014, taking Ariel away from her mother’s presence on a permanent basis. In 2015, Winter took to Twitter to share that she was officially emancipated.

Her Boyfriend

While the actress is currently an item with Levi Meaden, she has been in other relationships in the past. She was in a relationship with Australian actor, Callan McAuliffe in 2011 after which she dated American actor Cameron Palatas, a relationship which lasted between 2012 and 2013 at the end of which she was with Laurent Claude Gaudette between 2014 and 2016.
