We look at his career and how he got to where he is.

Bogdan Bogdanovic’s Bio, Age

Bogdan Bogdanovic was born on the 18th of  August 1992, in Belgrade, Serbia, FR Yugoslavia. He began his career as a player with a local team in Belgrade called KK Zvezdara. He later moved on to another team from Belgrade known as Alimenti Basket at the time. With them, he went on to earn a third-place finish in the Serbian junior league in 2009-10. He was still just 18 when he signed his first professional terms with Partizan Belgrade.

The start of his career was a tough one for Bogdan as he did not see much playing time but by the summer of 2012 when Partizan Belgrade was reunited with coach Dusko Vujosevic, Bogdan began to play more. This was after nearly two years in the shadows. He made his Euroleague debut in Partizan in the 2012-13 season and he averaged 5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in 6 outings.

By the 2013-14 season, things began to look up somewhat for Bogdan. He got a called-up to the Serbian national side. Back with Partizan in a Euroleague game against CSKA Moscow, he scored a career-high 27 points to help his team with the win.

In the ABA League, Bogdanovic scored a career-high 32 points against Cibona with 4 rebounds and 5 assists added. By the end of the Euroleague season, he had averaged 14.8 points, 3.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. He was voted the Euroleague Rising Star and selected to the Ideal Team of the ABA League. The team won the Serbian League title that year as well.

After Belgrade failed to qualify for the Euroleague in 2014, Bogdanovic opted to move to Turkish side Fernabache. At the end of his first season with Fernabache, the team finished fourth in the Euroleague. Bogdan Bogdanovic averaged 10.6 points, 2.8 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game in the Euroleague and 11.6 points, 2.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds in the Turkish League. He was voted for the second season in a row as the Euroleague Rising Star.

In his next season, he averaged 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 Euroleague games. Fernabache got to the final game of the Euroleague Final Four but lost to CSKA Moscow. They did, however, win the Turkish League.

The 2016-17 season began with a sprain to Bogdanovic’s right ankle and even though the damage was thought to be minimal at first, the injury kept him out till the turn of the year. Upon his return to the side, he put in strings of high-class performances that saw Fernabache win its first-ever Euroleague championship with a win over Olympiacos.

The Turkish side also won its second straight Turkish League championship in that season. On the 23 of June 2016, the Sacramento Kings acquired the rights for Bogdan from the Phoenix Suns who had previously selected him with the 27th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Bogdanovic signed with the Kings for the 2017-18 season and went on to average 11.8 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 78 games.
