It is true that BoJack Horseman is one of the best animation series at the moment, but the Netflix show will be joining the list of other series to bid the screens farewell after the 6th season. It was announced in September 2019 that the much-loved adult animation will come to an end at the end of season six. This news was indeed unexpected and disappointing to its numerous viewers. The all interesting series which greeted our screens in 2014, uses satire to reflect the day to day life of the average Hollywood ‘hustler’.

Although BoJack Horseman had mixed views in the beginning, it gained critical acclaim as the years went by, becoming one of the best shows aired by Netflix. But all this will soon be a thing of the past as BoJack Horseman’s end has been confirmed. As expected, the internet has been flooded with lots of questions pertaining to the possible reason for the cancellation of the show. But before walking that path, find out a little more about the unusual yet captivating animation series.

The Premise of BoJack Horseman

The series centers on the life of BoJack Horseman, a one time Hollywood bigshot looking to take things back to the way they were in his glory days. Horseman of the Horsin Around sitcom fame is no longer that relevant in the industry and wishes to get his fame back by all means possible. His quest becomes quite interesting from the personal dimension especially as he has to deal with his complicated romantic relationship with his agent, Princess Carolyn and his clown of a roommate Todd Chavez. And not forgetting his rival and friend Mr. Peanutbutter.

Producers of the BoJack Horseman series deserve a lot of applause for carefully handpicking the best and most suitable cast for the show. The animation was voiced by talented Hollywood stars who gave their best in reflecting the characters. From who effortlessly portrayed middle-aged alcoholic BoJack, who played elegant career-focused Carolyn and other major characters, the show is quite something.

Indeed the show will be missed and viewers can’t still help but wonder why BoJack joined the list of series ending after season 6. Many reports have attempted to treat this question, but unless Netflix reveals the reason for this move, the questions will keep coming. Here is what we know.

Here is Why Netflix Pulled a Plug on Season 7 and Its Cast Members

Netflix released the trailer for season Six of BoJack Horseman on September 2, 2019. However, the trailer was followed with news that the sixth season would be the last. Season 6 has been divided into two parts; the first installment has been scheduled to air on October 25, 2019. Having said this here is why we think Netflix pulled the plug on the show and its cast.

The Crew’s Terms Became Too Much

Before the end of the 5th season, rumors were rife that the survival of the show was threatened by frictions arising from the terms given by BoJack Horseman’s production crew to streaming giant Netflix. But what happened, in fact, was that the BoJack production crew were unionized with The Animation Guild (TAG) and became covered under a contract with Shadowmachine their employer.

The benefits of the contract which include employee incentives like minimum wages and retirement benefits were enjoyed by other artists on union covered productions. This development was perceived as unwelcome to Netflix by the public especially as Shadowmachine’s Tuca & Bertie was canceled by Netflix during this period. However, the company has debunked rumors that the unionization had something to do with the BoJack Horseman’s unexpected end.

The Show’s Creator Took a Decision to End It

Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of the interesting satirical animation is indeed not a name to disregard in the industry. Many have viewed the closing of the series to be as a result of Bob-Waksberg’s independent decision to end it and move on to other projects. Keeping a show running since 2014 is not an easy task and after all, he has a whole lot of productions on his table, and it’s only thoughtful if he took a break from the long-running BoJack Horseman. This is only what we think, however, as there have been varying dimensions from other stakeholders of the series.

The perception that Raphael was only made to end the show by other forces was pitched by actor (who played BoJack’s roommate Todd Cavez). He implied in a tweet that the crew was having a good time with the production but that Netflix’s decision to end the show has only brought it to an unplanned halt.

BoJack Horseman’s End was Already Decided Before the Unionization

Finally and sincerely, and again for everyone’s sake, we hope this is the fact. But the truth remains that people’s suspicions cannot be suppressed entirely, especially as events and developments correlate in many ways.
