Christopher Backus – Biography

Christopher Paul Backus was born on the 30th of October 1981, in Mission Viejo, California. His father, Terry Backus, worked as a lawyer and his mother, Teryl Backus was a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. Sadly, he lost his father at the age of three. Christopher grew up with his mother and sister, Michele Backus, in Kansas City, Kansas.

He got started in Hollywood in 2004 shortly after moving from New York to Los Angeles. His first roles were in Will & Grace and Benjamin Splits. He also featured in TV shows like The O.C, Life on Mars, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, The Mentalist, and Perception.

Improving his résumé, Christopher Backus also starred in Redline, 3 Days Gone, Nick Vallelonga’s All in, Nothing Personal and Elevator. Christopher also appeared in the Canadian four-hour mini-series The Last Templar.

In 2011, Backus appeared alongside Mira Sorvino, Patti Lupone, Tammy Blanchard, Mike Doyle, and Michael Rispoli in the film, Union Square which was first screened at the Toronto Film Festival. He also took on the challenge of playing the German-American actress, singer, fashion icon and film star – Marlene Dietrich in My Fair Lidy.

Other projects he has featured in include Hard Breakers, Ezna Sands’ Theo, Yellow Rock, Elevator and Among Friends. Christopher Backus was on board to direct The Sessionist but left the project due to creative differences.

In August 2003, Christopher Backus met Mira Sorvino at a mutual friend’s party, the pair dated for several months before tying the knot in the presence of their families and friends at a courthouse in Santa Barbara, California. They then proceeded to Capri, Italy for a rooftop ceremony.

Backus and his wife have four children, two boys and two girls, whose names are Mattea –  a daughter born on the 3rd of November, 2004; Johnny – a son born on the 29th of May, 2006; Holden – the second son and third child born on the 22nd of June, 2009; and Lucia – the youngest child and second daughter born on the 3rd May, 2012.
