Colin Cowherd is an American media person who is famous for his sports shows. He has gained popularity following his earlier works with different media stations including ESPN as well as for his present work with Fox Sports where he hosts The Herd with Colin Cowherd and co-hosts shows including Speak for Yourself with Cowherd & Whitlock alongside Jason Whitlock.

Early Life and Rise to Fame

He was born Colin Murray Cowherd on January 6, 1964, in Aberdeen, Washington. Nevertheless, it was in Grayland, Washington that he was raised alongside his sister by his single mother after a divorce from his alcoholic father when Colin and his elder sister were still kids. The reason behind the divorce of his parents was given as the alcoholism of his father.

While growing up, Colin spent most of his time alone with his radio listening to sports shows and that will go on to influence his love for being a part of sports broadcasting. For his education, he attended the Eastern Washington University from where he graduated in 1985.

He did not immediately delve into broadcasting after he left school as he first worked as a teacher for a while before moving on to work with San Diego Padres and then KVBC where he worked as the sports director. His career also had him spending some time with WTVT where he served as a weekend sports anchor.

His Career with ESPN and Fox Sports

Colin Cowherd had a rather redefinition of his career when he was hired by ESPN radio in 2003. Before that, he had also spent some time with KGW-TV where he worked as an anchor-man. It was when he was with ESPN radio that he began The Herd with Colin Cowherd in 2004.

The sports anchor remained with ESPN radio until 2015. During his stay with the station, he also hosted other shows including Colin’s New Football Show which ran from 2013 to 2014. He left the station in 2015 after a controversy regarding a comment he made about Dominican Republic baseball players whose academic abilities and their intelligence he questioned because he claimed they were from rough backgrounds.

His departure opened him up to sign a contract that would see him remain with Fox Sports for the next 4 years. He continues hosting The Herd on the station, and Kristine Leahy joined him as a co-host before leaving in 2018.

Beyond being a media person, Cowherd is also a writer whose first work, You Herd Me! I’ll Say It If Nobody Else Will, was published in 2013 while his next book, Raw: My 100%, Grade-A, Unfiltered, Inside Look at Sports was published 2 years later.

His career that seems to span for almost forever has been crowned with a number of deserved accolades. He was named the Best Pundit of 2012 by PunditTracker following his prowess in predicting sports. Cowherd was also named Radio Personality of 2005 by Sports Illustrated. While he was with KVBC in Las Vegas, Nevada, Colin remained National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association’s Nevada’s Sportscaster of the Year for as much as five years.

Cowherd was married to Kimberly Ann Vadala. The two got married in 1996 and by 2007, the marriage ended in a divorce. An American model, Kimberly Ann, and the media man have two children from the marriage. Although he has kept his children away from the limelight almost completely, he once shared a picture of his daughter on his twitter handle.

After the marriage failed and subsequent divorce, Colin went on to marry Ann Cowherd in 2010. There is very little information available on Ann Cowherd obviously because she isn’t a media person or necessarily a celebrity.

The Grayland native now resides in Los Angeles with his family.
