Craig Melvin, a native of South Carolina, born on May 20, 1979, is one of the few people who found their passion early in life. As a high school student in Columbia High, he was always interested in telling stories and journalism. His industrious spirit at his young age earned him an Associated Press Award for one of his stories. For his higher education, Craig studied Government and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College.

Craig Melvin’s journalism career had an early start, with his first job as a reporter in high school being a teen reporter for a local news channel, WIS News 10. He returned to the news station after he finished college, deciding to opt for journalism instead of politics due to the passion and early motivation he had growing up.

At WIS News, before he transitioned to WRC-TV in Washington, he was a weekday anchor, and then a feature anchor before he ended his WIS News career as a weekend news anchor. During his time at WIS, he won an Emmy award for his ‘Craig Cam’ live show and was named the ‘Best Anchor’ by the South Carolina Broadcaster’s Organization. At WRC-TV, he was a reporter and anchor for three years.

In August 2018, he was named the co-anchor of one of NBC’s popular shows, ‘Today’.

Born to Lawrence Melvin and Betty Melvin, Craig is the second of three sons. He has a younger brother, Ryan Melvin and an older brother, Lawrence Meadows, who is a Reverend. Not much is known about Craig Melvin’s parents and family. Most people can only tell that he is the second child in a family of five, with his older brother being a gospel preacher.

As for his immediate family, Craig is married to Lindsay Czarniak, who is a former sports journalist for ESPN. The couple met in 2008 when they both worked for WRC-TV, an affiliate NBC station and got married in 2011. They have two children – Delano Melvin who was born in 2014 and Sybil Ann Melvin who was born in 2016.
