The TV host was born Erin Leigh Ryder on August 14, 1980, in New York City.

Even though she has not revealed anything about her family including her parents, it is known that she has a sister, Caitlin Ryder whom she is very close to and has described as her best friend. Caitlin made some appearance in the MTV series, The Jersey Shore. She is also a friend to the star of the show Snooki who invited her a number of times to the show. Erin also has another sister, Courtney.

Erin Ryder got her education from the State University of New York at Cortland, graduating in 2002 with honors. She got communications and computer applications degrees from the institution. Ryder was also good with athletics that she made the All-American team in hockey and was named the M. Louise Moseley Award recipient in field hockey. The award was especially for female athletes who have shown strong leadership skills and athletic achievement.

She went further to obtain a masters degree in Television, Radio, and Film from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Erin Ryder began her career with NBC where she worked for the Olympics. Ahead of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, she produced the Open, Bumps, Teases and Promos. She would later work with many other stations including Cartoon Network, ESPN, MTV, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and National Geographic Channel among others.

With greater opportunities in Los Angeles, she decided to relocate there in 2005 where, in no time, she became the field producer of MTV’s Final Fu and then she worked on 32nd Daytime Emmy Awards, assisting with the production. Busy with many productions in different places including New York and Detroit, Erin became the producer and team member for the Syfy reality show, Destination Truth. She was part of it from the second to the fifth season which was also the final.

Chasing UFOs became the next show that she got involved in. Erin Ryder starred in it together with Ben McGee and James Fox while also its co-executive producer in 2012. It was followed by the web series Myth Explorer which she produced for Universal studio.
