Famke Janssen is a Hollywood actress and filmmaker of Dutch origin. She began her working as a fashion model back in the 1980s and eventually switched to acting in the early 1990s. Her long-running Hollywood career is dotted with several acting credits both on the small screen and the big screen. Janssen’s most notable performance yet is her portrayal of the character Jean Grey/Phoenix in the massively successful X-Men film series.

Famke Beumer Janssen was born on November 5, 1964, in Amstelveen, Netherlands. In addition to her native Dutch, she also speaks English and French with a little bit of German. Famke was raised alongside 2 sisters, Antoinette and Marjolein. Information regarding her early education is not available but she is known to have had her college education at the University of Amsterdam where she obtained a degree in Economics. She also studied at Columbia University after relocating to the US.

Famke Janssen moved to the United States in 1984 when she launched her career as a fashion model.
