DIA is short for DIAMOND, a popular South Korean girl group. The acronym which also means, Do It Amazing is usually used to describe the group. DIA members were put together in 2015 by MBK Entertainment based in South Korea and they still serve as the group’s record label to date.

How Many Members Does DIA Have?

MBK Entertainment originally released six names – Eunice, Jenny, Huihyeon, Chaeyeon, Eunjin, and Yebin as members of the group but the list later grew to seven as Seunghee was added shortly before the group made their official debut. Eunchae was recruited by MBK Entertainment in March 2016, making her the eighth member of DIA.

Seunghee, the then leader of the group, left DIA barely a month after Eunchae joined with reasons best known to her and the management. MBK Entertainment announced the addition of Somyi and Jueun to the girl group in early April of 2017 which was just a few days to the start of the group’s reality television show.

However, Eunjin, in an official statement released on May 7, 2018, announced her exit from the group, citing health challenges as her reason. DIA was further reduced to seven members on July 6, 2019, which was the very day Jenny announced that she was leaving, owing to a knee problem.

The widely acclaimed group currently comprises of a total of seven members – Eunice, Huihyeon, Jooeun, Yebin, Somyi, Eunchae and Chaeyeon. The individual profiles of these DIA members are highlighted below.

Who Are The Members Of DIA?

1. Huihyeon

This talented vocalist was born on June 16, 1995, in Namwon, South Korea. She was christened Ki Hee Hyun at birth by her parents. Hyun had her elementary education at Namwon Elementary School before moving on to Namwon Hanbit Middle School. She completed her high school education at Namwon Girls’ High School situated in her hometown. Also, Huihyeon was admitted into Inha Technical College but later dropped out.

Huihyeon took over from Seunghee as leader of the group shortly after the latter left the group. Asides being a good vocalist, this DIA member is also good at playing the piano, dancing, and rapping.

2. Eunice

Heo Soo Yeon adopted the stage name Eunice when she decided to go pro in the entertainment industry. The talented vocalist was born on September 2, 1991, in Busan, South Korea. It is also known that Eunice is a dance major from the prestigious Korea National University of Arts. Prior to joining DIA, she was a trainee at Star Empire Entertainment and a member of their girl group known as Jewelry.

3. Jooeun

Jeooeun’s real name is Lee Joo Eun and she was born on June 7, 1995, in Suwon, South Korea. Eun was enrolled at Mangpo High School for her high school education before moving on to Korea Nazarene University for her college degree.

MBK Entertainment wooed Jooeun away from Polaris Entertainment where she was a trainee and signed her to their own label. Jooeun was DIA’s assistant manager before finally getting signed as a group member.

4. Yebin

Yebin carved out her stage name from her last two names – Ye Bin. She was born on July 13, 1997, in Chuncheon, South Korea. Yebin’s only known relative is her younger brother, Baek Jinwoo.
The Chuncheon native plays the guitar exceptionally well and is considered by other DIA members as the most talented vocalist in the group.

5. Chaeyeon

Chaeyeon is the stage name of South Korean rapper Jung Chae Yeon. She was born on December 1, 1997, in the South Jeolla-do province of South Korea. She was however raised alongside her older sister, Jung Siyeon, in Anyang City by her parents.
Chaeyeon is an alumna of the prestigious Seoul School of Performing Arts. She was recruited as a visual for DIA, having stayed as a trainee for a period of 5 months.

6. Eunchae

Eunchae was born as Kwon Chaewon on May 26, 1999, in Seoul, South Korea. She majored in the performing arts all through her time at Hanlim Multi Art High School. Prior to being a member of DIA, Eunchae was previously an Ensoul Entertainment trainee. The talented rapper is also skilled in playing both the ukulele and harmonica.

7. Somyi

Somyi was born on January 26, 2000, in Changwon, South Korea, and she is the only child of her parents. The South Korean celebrity bagged a major in Practical Music from Seoul High School of Performing Arts. Somyi joined DIA in April 2017 as a Maknae, although she still sings and raps as well.
