An exception of this fact is the last film in the franchise which ignored all others before it.

How Many Michael Myers Halloween Movies Are There?

Since the original film started in 1978, there have come to be 10 more, which means that there are a total of 11 Michael Myers Halloween movies. Both are also to be directed by Green.

While some of the movies in the franchise excelled both commercially and critically, some were a massive flop on both ends. In general, the series has grossed more than $600 million and is one of the most successful horror series yet.

Which Is The Best Michael Myers Halloween Movies?

The best Michael Myers Halloween movie is the 1978 film which began the series, Halloween. The movie is in the simplest definition, a masterpiece and so far, all the sequels still find themselves unable to match it. John Carpenter and Debra Hill, together with Donald Pleasence, , and Nick Castle who portrayed Michael Myers gave the display of a lifetime.

It began with the story of Myers who, 15 years after he murdered his sister, is now out on a killing spree. He seeks babysitters and kills them one after the other while John Carpenter (Dr. Sam Loomis) tries to find the man who is also his patient to stop the killing.

Other films ranking in the series are:

1. Halloween (2018)

The only movie in the series that makes it close to the original work is the 2018 Halloween film that comes as a direct sequel to the first, ignoring all other works that appeared subsequently. It brings together good humor and horror as Jamie Lee Curtis is placed against the maniac.

2. Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later (1998)

This is by no means as scary as some others in the franchise, but it is a great one in every sense. Set in northern California, we get to see Laurie Strode back again, as a headmistress of a private school, but Myers is coming for holiday.

3. Halloween II (1981)

The argument that has remained is on whether this sequel to the first work should ever exist. It doesn’t matter on what side of the divide one is, what we can all agree on is that it is a great entry. After leaving the home of Tommy Doyle in the first movie, Michael goes over to the hospital after Laurie where the bloodbath continues.

4. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

In the series, this is the only entry that does not have Michael Myers. Nonetheless, it still makes the list because even though the movie was successful, it still showed why Michael is needed in the franchise.

5. Halloween II (2009)

One thing that makes this a great entry is how it is able to turn the Rob Zombie which was almost a flop in its first entry into something to appreciate. The plot is strong and the terror is real. Michael Myers is depicted as a Humanoid who like always, is out for the kill but this time a little different.

6. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)

This is pretty much the establishment of the Michael Myers Halloween movies. This is because, since his return in this sequel, he has always remained a part of the franchise. Halloween III which did not feature the iconic fictional character failed to impress much, even though it is a great film, and so he was brought back and like expected, there was a better acceptance.

7. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)

There is a boost to this entry, thanks to the involvement of who played Tommy Doyle. The film goes back on an adventure of trying to explain the mystery behind Myers. Another great film, there is always the sadness when one gets to find out it was the last appearance of Donald Pleasence in the franchise before his death.

8. Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007)

This was the first of the Rob Zombie entry into the franchise, and somehow, it manages not to impress. It tells the story of a young Micheal Myers who tortured pets and murdered a bully. Although we would get to meet him in his latter life, it still failed to kick in well.

9. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

For many, this is the worst of the Michael Myers Halloween movies for the right reasons that it has a storyline that does not inspire and visuals that are not appealing. It takes away all the terror that came with the previous films in the franchise.

10. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

This time around, the story revolves around a reality game show and it featured people like and . But then, as a horror film, it is a complete flop and for once, we get to meet a Michael Myers that doesn’t command the fear he did in the previous works.
