Blumhouse, who were no strangers to making horror flicks notable of which were Paranormal Activity and The Purge franchise, had approached Hulu with a proposition to make them a horror film they could air to their subscribers. The film in question turned out to be a collection of twelve, 90-minute story-thrillers that would make up one season and fit conveniently into the cycle of a year.

The partnership proved satisfactory and since its launch, subscribers of the show have been treated to a monthly serving of oven-hot, spine-chillers that have satisfied their yearning and have met many expectations.

In August 2019, Into The Dark was renewed for a second season to consist of twelve episodes, which will bring the total number of episodes to 24. It premiered on October 4, 2019, and will run all through to September 2020, meaning ardent followers have almost an entire upcoming year of monthly entertainment to look forward to.

For a show with some highs and very obvious lows, seeming hits and misses, these figures aren’t exactly disastrous to go on with.

2. Each episode is inspired by a prominent holiday or event of the month it is released

Not only did the producers of Into the Dark decide on an interesting strategy when putting together the project by agreeing that each season will consist of 12 episodes that will spread evenly throughout the year, they also ensured that each of those episodes will have plots loosely based on the holiday present in those very months. Thus, there is a Halloween-themed episode, an Independence Day and a Daughter’s Day-themed episode. This unique and clever approach was to help keep things exciting.

Daniel Stamm whose directorial work includes The Last Exorcism,  directed the Valentine-themed Episode 5 of Season 1 “Down”. For Season 2 Episode 1 “Uncanny Annie”,  have the likes of of , Evan Bittencourt of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, Jacques Colimon of The Society and Georgie Flores of Dumplin all starring in it.

Also part of the successful TV project are the crew of rising actors, actresses, established and upcoming directors like Hannah Macpherson. Season 2 is expected to bring in even more talents.

4. One of the show’s episodes is inspired by a true event

The horror web series is entirely fiction, at least it has been for the past 13 episodes. However, Season 2’s second episode titled “Pilgrim” is a slight deviation from the norm.

Based on true events, this Thanksgiving-themed episode centers on a family who invites pilgrims into their home on thanksgiving to help them bond. But as these strangers begin to reveal their true characters, they start wishing they had never allowed them in, in the first place.
