Jade Tailor may not be so much of a huge household name yet but the actress is sure on the right track to becoming one of Hollywood’s darlings. Having got her start professionally in 2007, Tailor has done well to maintain a commendable level of activity in the industry both in film and in television. She is best known for her role as Kady Orloff-Diaz one of the main roles in the SyFy fantasy series, The Magician which is based on a Lev Grossman book of the same name. Using the name Jade Tailor in an attempt to trace the actress’s heritage, one is most likely to be in error as the name is not her birth name but one she chose for the purpose of her show business career. Her birth name is Jessica Lee Kravich. She was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California on the 12th of August 1985. Tailor is of mixed ethnicity including Isreali (from her father’s side) and Native American and Western European from her mother’s side, however, she holds American nationality.

A highly energetic child, Tailor, from the tender age of 3 began taking gymnastics classes and the following year added ballet lessons. As she grew older, her artistic traits became more manifest and young Tailor added singing and acting classes.

Jade Tailor attended a performance arts-based high school where she continued to hone her artistic skills throughout her schooling. After high school graduation, Tailor, in a bid to add more value to her knowledge of the performance arts went to New York City where she continued studying. And then came 2007 when Tailor was ready to go professional with acting.

She made her debut in a horror comedy film titled, You Are So Dead which was released in 2007. In that same year, Tailor had a couple of other gigs including the short films, Rex Buster and A Perfect Day. She also had a small role in the TV show, The Getaway.

Tailor then played the role of Angel in The Chronicles of Curtis Tucker short films; Letting Go and There Was a Girl both released in 2008. A couple of short film gigs followed in 2010, the same year she appeared in an episode of the hit horror TV series, True Blood.

Jade Tailor continued to score parts in short films and films including In My Sleep, Losing ControlWedding Day, Don’t Pass Me By, and Cam2Cam. While none of these roles were big enough to be described as her breakthrough, they did prepare her for a bright future ahead.

The year 2015 would bring Tailor’s long-deserved break. The year first started with a recurring role in TNT’s Murder in the First before she scored her first main role ever in SyFy’s The Magicians, a series that turned out to be a success and gained Tailor a higher level of widespread prominence. She played the role of Heather Steadman in the Matthew Charles Santoro-directed sci-fi thriller, Higher Power.

Her Parents and Family

Jade Tailor got her acting traits from her mother, Sally Pansing a former actress whose career was active in the 70s. Some of her known roles came in the horror flick Jennifer, and Donny and Marie Show where she played the lead character’s love interest.

Following a period of acting, Sally switched careers to become a holistic nutritionist. Though she had roots in Native America and several parts of Western Europe, Tailor’s mom was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1951. Tailor’s father Josef P. Kravich is a Jewish businessman and has served his nation Israel in the Special Forces I.D.F. After Tailor’s parents divorced, her mother went on to marry Tom Malone aka Bones of the Blues Brothers.

 

Jade Tailor has an older brother named Shawn Kravich who is a lawyer. He was born on the 25th of March 1984 in Hollywood, California. Shawn earned his BA in International Relations in 2006 from the University of Southern California and three years later earned his J.D from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. Admitted to the California State Bar in 2010, he currently serves as Executive Director at Snap Foundation. Shawn previously worked with the Bet Tzedek Legal Services and the Disability Rights Legal Center.
