Katie Wright is an American former actress who was active in the industry from 1993 to 2001. She appeared in a number of films and TV shows both in minor roles as well as in leading roles. Some of her credits include Malibu Shores, Melrose Place, Detention: The Siege at Johnson High, and Hairshirt.

Katie Wright – Biography

Kathryn Wright was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the U.S. on December 25, 1971. She is the daughter of Scott Wright, a physician and Mary Wright. Wright was raised in Villanova, Pennsylvania where she attended Harriton High School, graduating in 1990. Katie Wright seemingly put off attending college to focus on her acting career but received training in film writing and directing.

In 1993, she made her first screen appearance in two episodes of the ABC coming-of-age- drama series, The Wonder Years as Jane. She followed up the next year with a film role as Groupie in the comedy movie, It’s Pat. Also in 1994, Wright had a guest role as a lingerie model in the first season of the Western CBS series, Harts of the West.

Katie Wright had no starring role in 1995 but she bounced back the following year with leading roles in several television films including God’s Lonely Man, When Friendship Kills, A Friend’s Betrayal, and Abduction of Innocence. She also appeared as a regular on two prime time soap operas, the short-lived Malibu Shores (1996) and the megahit Melrose Place (1997). In 1997, Wright had a starring role in another made for television movie, Detention: The Siege at Johnson High as Samantha Eckert, one of the heroes of the tragedy. The film is based on the Lindhurst High School shooting and siege that resulted in the death of four people five years prior. Also in 1997, she also had minor roles in two other TV series, Boy Meets world and Players.

She starred as Corinne ‘Corey’ Wells in the romantic comedy film, Hairshirt (1998) where she also served as the co-producer and co-writer. Her performance in the movie earned her the Best Actress Award at the 2000 Slamdunk Film Festival. Other acting credits are the horror comedy film Idle Hands (1999) as Tanya co-starring , , and , the TV movies Late Last Night as Mia and The David Cassidy Story in the role of Susan Dey. Katie Wright went on to appear in The Sculptress as Sarah and in the short film The Good Things as Christina. The film was produced in 1999 but was released in 2001. She was also cast in an episode of Cracker in 1999 and also in Walker, Texas Ranger in 2000.

Katie Wright married Hank Azaria in 2007. He belongs to Sephardic Jewish descent. Azaria is an actor, voice actor, and director known for his voice role on The Simpsons. Prior to tying the knot with Wright in 2007, Hank was formerly married to actress . They started dating in 1994 and wedded on July 17, 1999, in Southern California, in a traditional Jewish ceremony. The couple finalized their divorce on 18th December 2000.

Wright gave birth to their son, Hal Azaria on June 6, 2009.
