Before she began her career as an actress, Kim started out as a stand-up comedian in the early 1980s, performing in Los Angeles clubs. The six-foot-tall actress got one of her earliest acting roles in Cathy (1986) and then from 1987 to 1988, she was in A Different World. With many more works to her name, she appeared in Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996) which became one of her famous works.
