Kirk Acevedo is an American actor who is well known for his role in several American TV series such as Oz, Band of Brothers, Law & Order series, Prime Suspect, 12 Monkeys, and Arrow. Over the course of his acting career which is now over two decades- long, Kirk has featured in 14 films and over 30 television series playing various demanding characters. His career has not been bereft of awards, he won an ALMA Award for his outstanding role in the epic war film titled The Thin Red Line. Kirk Acevedo Bio

Kirk Acevedo was born an American with Puerto Rican origin. He was born on November 27, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York. His parents raised him and his older brother Richard Acevedo in New York. He schooled at LaGuardia School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. After he graduated from high school, he then went to study at Suny Purchase School of Acting also know as Purchase College, in New York. Acevedo graduated from Purchase College with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.

The actor began his career when he debuted in the television show New York Undercover as Joey Claudio in episode “Tasha”, in 1994. In the following year, he appeared on the police drama once again but in a different character as Ramon in the episode “Tag, You’re Dead”, in the second season of the series.

In 1996, Kirk Acevedo featured in the TV film The Sunshine Boys. He was also cast as Mark in “Stones”, an episode of the American detective drama television series Swift Justice. Still, in this same year, he featured in an episode of Law & Order as Richie Morales. The series was the first of many series of the Law & Order franchise.

The following year, Acevedo made his film debut starring as Kirk in a short film titled Kirk and Kerry. He then starred for the third time on New York Undercover, this time as Bernard in the episode “The Promised Land”, in the series’ third season. It was in 1997 that he first starred in the crime drama series Oz, picking up a recurring role and later as the show’s main character, Miguel Alvarez. Acevedo featured in all six seasons of the television series, from 1997 to 2003.

Earlier in 2001, he was cast in two episodes of Third Watch as Paulie Fuentes, in the episodes: “Requiem of a Bantamweight” and “ Unfinished Business”. He was also cast in six episodes of the American war drama ministries Band of Brothers before he got the role of a DA Investigator Hector Salazar in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in 2005. The actor then reprised his role as DA Investigator Hector Salazar as the main character in Law & Order: Trial by Jury, between 2005 and 2006. In 2005, he also featured as Sentry in the British-American romantic historical drama film, The New World. In the year that followed thereafter, he starred in the sports drama film Invincible as Tommy. Kirk Acevedo also featured in an episode of Numbers as Gino McGinly. And he was cast as George Avila in an episode of 24.

Kirk played the main role as Nicky Cottero in what was the only released season of The Black Donnellys in 2007. The following year and up to 2011, he played another lead role and the recurring character of Charlie Francis in American science fiction television series Fringe.

Between 2011 and 2012, he was cast as Det. Luisito Calderon in Prime Suspect. In 2013, Kirk was cast as James Boyd in the CSI franchises: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: New York. Still, in 2013, he was cast yet again in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, this time as Eddie Garcia. He featured in two episodes of The Walking Dead as Mitch Dolgen, in 2013.

Between 2015 and 2018, Acevedo was cast as Jose Ramsey in 12 Monkeys. He currently plays the role of Ricardo Diaz/Dragon, the main antagonist in the American television series .
