1. The Public (2018)

A cold storm is approaching the city of Cincinnati where the movie is set, some homeless people decide they will have to stay at the city Library and what started as a peaceful civil protest escalated into a full-scale riot between citizens and the police. Alec Baldwin plays the role of Detective Bill Ramstead, a crisis negotiator for the police department. He works with the District attorney to make sure the riot is quelled and the two Liberians are not caught in the middle of what started as a small protest.

2. The Cooler (2003)

Probably one of the best works of Baldwin, it centers on a man as portrayed by William H. Macy who is indebted to a violent casino owner played by Baldwin. Following the debt, Alec decided to hire the man as a cooler for his casino. A cooler is someone who is believed to have bad luck and is hired by casinos to sit on tables so that his ill-luck can spread to others.

What the casino owner doesn’t know is that his cooler has fallen in love and the curse will soon be lifted.

His portrayal of Sheldon Kaplow (Shelly) in the film got him many awards and nominations including the Academy Award nomination as well as a Golden Globe, Satellite Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award among others.

3. The Departed (2006)

This movie is entirely in its own class. Featuring great actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, the movie centers on the two men one working as an undercover cop while the other plays the role of a mole in the police. Both of them know of the existence of each other and they are set on identifying each other.

Playing the role of Capt. George Ellerby, head of a crime task force Alec Baldwin also made a good showing for himself with the movie which earned Martin Scorsese his first-ever Oscar as a director in 2006.

 4. Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

Among other Alec Baldwin movies, this is one that has been highly rated because of how easily, it seems to get everything right. On his resume, however, it may not take the top spot because he did not get a big role. That said, the small showing that he had is still very significant.

The movie is an adoption of the play of David Mamet and Baldwin plays the role of a salesman, a role that although brief, is still not forgettable. It tells the story of a rather shady estate firm that makes its salesmen sell properties to people who do not qualify.

5. Married to the Mob (1988)

This is one of the first films of Alec Baldwin, and it also happens to be one of his most acclaimed and among his breakout films. Directed by Jonathan Demme, it tells the story of Frank “The Cucumber” de Marco who is making his way up the mafia ladder but things would change for him after an affair with the mistress of mob boss Tony “The Tiger” Russo who is portrayed by the award-winning actor, Dean Stockwell.

The role of Baldwin in the highly-rated film is not a very big one but he was able to put his little time to good use.

6. The Aviator (2004)

The Aviator tells the story of Howard Hughes, the popular American Business magnate, investor, engineer, film-director and philanthropist. The classic film captures mostly his life between 1927 and 1947 which was the time Hughes became very successful as a film director and industrialist in the aviation sector.

Alec Baldwin plays the role of Juan Trippe, an American entrepreneur, and aerospace sector and the founder of the Pan American World Airways and rival of the protagonist of the story.

7. The Hunt for Red October (1990)

This came as the first movie in the Jack Ryan movie franchise. It explores the Cold War-era issues between the United States and the defunct Soviet Union. Marko Aleksandrovich Ramius is a first captain with the Soviet Union army who has been given orders to wreak havoc on some American submarines. He plans to defect but is heavily blocked by his troops and his motives are misconceived by the Americans.

He and Jack Ryan must find a way to make his defection possible as the Russians have already informed the Americans that he is a renegade officer. Alec Baldwin plays the main protagonist Jack Ryan who is a CIA intelligence analyst.

8. The Ghost of Mississippi (1996)

After African American civil rights activist Medgar Evers was killed in a racially motivated situation, the killer Bryon De ler Beckwith has been tried twice but the case ends with the jury not agreeing on what sentence to be carried out.

When Evers’ widow wants to try again to bring Bryon to book, she teams up with Bobby DeLaughter who is being warned against tampering with the case so it won’t affect his political career. Delaughter helps the Evers family get the justice they deserve. Alec Baldwin plays the role of Delaughter, an assistant district attorney. He brings the charge against the killer almost 30 years after the crime was committed.

9. Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)

While not so many would have this on the list of the best Alec Baldwin movies, we still think it should make even if not as the greatest. This is thanks to its good storyline.

When Dick becomes the Vice President of a media company called Globodyne, he interviews the presidential candidate who calls his company all sorts of names and accuses them of not pushing the American dream. This interview affects the stock of his company that it crashes, rendering it worthless and everybody is laid off without their severance packages and pension. Dick and his wife, having gone from grace to grass find out that the CEO of the company jack McCallister had diverted the company’s asset and embezzled over $400 million from the company.

Dick confronts Jack about this and asks him to sign a blank check for them so they can be well off but Jack only signs a 100 dollar for them. Dick then forges his signature from the check to get out the $400 million dollars to pay the pension of former employees. Alec Baldwin plays the role of the crooked CEO of Globodydne media, Jack McCallister.

10. Boss Baby (2017)

With a few great voice roles to his name including providing the voice for Butch in Cats & Dogs (2001), Dennis in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and Makunga the Lion in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008), one of the best voice roles of the actor is in this 2017 animated comedy film.

In the animated story, Alec Baldwin plays the role of Theodore Templeton, a super-intelligent infant with an adult mind that works for baby-corp, an organization that works to preserve the love of newly born babies everywhere. He and his elder brother Tim would fight and bicker first before working together to make sure that a former baby-corp employer now gone rouge must not transfer the love of infants to puppies because he was once sacked by baby-corp.

 11. 30 Rock (2006 – 2013)

One of the best TV shows of Alec Baldwin, the show makes an attempt at drawing the experiences of Tina Fey who is the creator of the sitcom as Saturday Night Live’s writer.  Baldwin portrays a network executive who is too demanding, controlling and often senseless, Jack Donaghy. Also the show’s producer, he earned multiple Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in the Television Series Musical or Comedy category, as well as Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

12. Path to War (2002)

This John Frankenheimer 2002 directed TV film is also one of the best Alec Baldwin TV shows. It centers on the Vietnam War as seen by United States President Lyndon B. Johnson and also the members of his cabinet. While Michael Gambon played the role of the president, Baldwin was offered Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara.
