This Brazilian American actress and singer has shown great expertise not just in playing her roles, not just as Ana Solis in Desperate Housewives, she is also well known for playing Simone Sinclair on the ABC Family series Switched at Birth and appearing as  Meena Paroom on the Disney Channel sitcom Cory in the House.

Maiara Walsh was born February 18, 1988, in Seattle, Washington to an American father who is also of Irish, English, German, and French-Canadian descent and a Brazilian mother.

Maiara’s paternal grandfather Laurence Mason Walsh was the son of Royal Hill Walsh and Ina Mae Swihart who are of English origin while her paternal grandmother was Margaret “Peggy” Cahail who is a daughter to Ira Earl Cahail and Alice Stella Kellogg, who are of Canadian origin.

Maiara Walsh is Multi-Lingual

Probably due to her diverse ethnicity, asides English, Maiara also speaks Portuguese fluently and she is proficient in Spanish.

She Left Home at Age 11 to Pursue a Career in Acting

The Desperate Housewives star and her family moved to São Paulo, Brazil, when she was just two years old but she moved to Simi Valley California, at the age of eleven to pursue a career in acting. In 2010, she got a chance to star as a guest on CW’s The Vampire Diaries. The following year (2011), she appeared as Mandi Weatherly in Mean Girls 2 – a teen comedy television film directed by Melanie Mayron. Then she starred on the Dr Phil Show.

It didn’t end there, Walsh took over from Emma Stone as the female lead in the television series Zombieland. In 2012, she starred as Simone Sinclair (a former friend of Bay Kennish, a one-night stand with Emmett Bledsoe, friend/ex-girlfriend of Toby Kennish, and ex-girlfriend of Wilkie) in Switched at Birth.

Maiara Walsh is a philanthropist to the core, in spite of her busy schedule, she still finds time to do some humanitarian work.
