Mandie Taketa Biography

Mandie Taketa was born on March 3, 1976, in Hawaii, United States of America. She is the daughter of Hawai’i Carpenters’ Union head Ronald Taketa. Raised in Hawaii, Mandie was lucky to have her father actively involved in her life as he taught her both acting and dancing, at a tender age.

She also finished her elementary and high school education in Hawaii and though she had a full dance scholarship at the University of Hawaii, she decided instead to pursue a dance and acting career in Los Angeles.

Mandie is known for her role as Vicky in the independent comedy film Manband! The Movie. She has also participated in various competitions ranging from dancing, acrobatics, bodybuilding and cheerleading to paintball. She is also a successful entrepreneur who owns three different companies, a film production company that specializes in wedding films – Anything Everything Productions, Adell Body Works, and This Lifetime.

Her Marriage and Divorce

Mandie was formerly married to Wayne Brady, an American actor, singer, comedian, and television personality, who is mostly known for his work on television including Whose Line Is It Anyway? The Wayne Brady Show, Don’t Forget the Lyrics, and Let’s Make A DealWayne has also appeared in numerous movies and voice-overs and has released two albums A long time Coming (2008) and Radio Wayne (2011). For his contributions to the industry, Wayne has won a couple of awards which include: Daytime Emmy Award for hosting The Wayne Brady Show and 30000 Reason to Love Me, as well as a Prime Emmy Award for the comedy series Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Mandie and Wayne met during the preparations for a musical show in Oahu, Hawaii. Thereafter, they began dating, moved to L.A. together and were married in 1999. Wayne and Mandie have a daughter, Maile Masako Brady who was born on February 3, 2003. However, three years later, the couple separated and by April 2008, their divorce was finalized on the grounds of ‘irreconcilable differences’.

Despite the divorce, the former lovebirds have remained close friends and Mandie even bought a home in Wayne’s neighbourhood so that they could easily co-parent their daughter. According to the divorced couple who now live “super close”, they remain committed to co-parenting Maile and want to give her the closest experience to living in the same house.

For years, her husband Wayne secretly battled clinical depression and their divorce seemed to push him further into darkness. He hit rock bottom on his 42nd birthday and suffered a complete breakdown after the tragic death of his close acquaintance and fellow comedian Robin Williams who committed suicide following a longtime struggle with depression. But with the darkness came a light. Mandie was by her ex-husband’s side and helped him recover from the hard times. Wayne who is now thankfully on the road to recovery credits a lot to Mandie.

Since after their divorce, Wayne has publicly voiced how he feels about his baby mama whom he says asides his mom, was with him when no one else in the world was. According to Wayne, though Mandie may no longer be his wife, she is more than his best friend who can go the extra mile for him.

On the other hand, there are, however, speculations that Mandie might still have feelings for Wayne as she has not been seen with any other guy so far. Moreover, she has kept her personal life quite private after their divorce.
