Mike Pompeo’s Bio, Age
Mike was born Michael Richard Pompeo on December 30, 1963, Orange, California. Of Italian descent, he went to Fountain Valley’s Los Amigos High School in California before proceeding to the United States Military Academy at West Point where he finished as the best in his class.
Having served in the army for some time, Pompeo went to the Harvard Law School, after which he worked in Washing Williams & Connolly, a law firm.
Before going into the world of politics where he would come to be known, Mike first went into business, cofounding an aerospace manufacturing company, Thayer Aerospace. In the political world, he contested for the 4th District Congressional seat to represent Kansas under the Republican Party. Having emerged victorious in the party’s primary election, he went on to defeat Raj Goyle of the Democratic Party. Pompeo would be re-elected in 2012, 2014, and 2016.
Shortly after his victory in the presidential elections of 2016, Donald Trump nominated Mike to serve as a CIA Director. He was sworn in on January 23, 2017, after he was confirmed by the US Senate on the same day. Mike would only serve for a year before he would be nominated again by the president to fill the office of Rex Tillerson after he was fired as Secretary of State. Pompeo was confirmed as the new Secretary of States on April 26, 2018. Shortly afterwards, he was sworn in.
