Princess Beatrice of York Bio/Wiki, Age

The princess of York was born as Beatrice Elizabeth Mary on 8th August 1988, in Portland Hospital, London. Her name, which was met with surprise, was concealed from the public until a fortnight after her birth.

Beatrice is the first daughter and first child of the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, (the third child/second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh) and his now ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York who since her divorce has been in the news for all the wrong reasons from bankruptcy to being named on the infamous Panama papers.

However, Beatrice has only had nice things to say about her mom despite what appears on the tabloids. She that her mom is “probably one of the most misunderstood women in the world.”

Wondering why Beatrice’s mom still gets to keep her title of Duchess even after divorcing from the Duke? Well, the title is hers to keep until she decides to remarry. Also, she gets to attend official royal events.

Beatrice’s parents married in 1986 and announced their separation in 1992 before finalizing their divorce in 1996. The divorce was a messy one, to say the least with infidelity on both parts the reason for the split, however, the most scandalous which gave tabloid houses have a field day was a topless photo of Fergie having her toes sucked by an American businessman named John Bryan.

Princess Beatrice who was born two years after her parents’ marriage in 1986 was baptized a little over four months after her birth, at St James’s Palace in the Chapel Royal.

In 1991, at the age of three, the princess began her education at the independent Upton House School in Windsor. Four years later, she together with her younger sister Princess Eugine born in 1990 began attending Coworth Park School.

The princess then attended Ascot’s independent St George’s School from 2000 to 2007. Beatrice was the head girl in her final school year. She excelled greatly in her academics earning an A grade in drama and a B grade for both film studies and film.

However, Beatrice didn’t sit for her GCSE exams until a year after school, because she had dyslexia, an ailment that was kept concealed from the media until 2013 when it was revealed that she was diagnosed way back in 1994. Following that revelation, Beatrice became a patron of the Helen Ariel Dyslexia Centre, the organization had played a part in helping her overcome the illness. Additionally, Beatrice is a patron of the York Musical Society.

Beatrice studied for her first degree at Goldsmiths College, London graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor degree in History and History of Ideas in the second class upper division.

Before earning her college degree, Beatrice put her acting skills to use by making her debut film appearance in The Young Victoria (2009), though the role was a non-talking one, it was enough to make her the first British royal to appear in a non-documentary film.

The Young Victoria was based on one of her most popular ancestors Queen Victoria. Since maturing into adulthood, Beatrice has attended a number of royal events with her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II. Some of those include the traditional Royal Maundy services held in York on 5 April 2012. She accompanied her father in November 2014 to the United Arab Emirates for an official engagement.

The princess of York has been hugely involved in charity since turning 18. Some of her beneficiaries include Children in Crisis. Together with Sam and Holly Branson, the son, and daughter respectively of Virgin Billionaire Richard Branson, Beatrice founded the charity organization Big Change. Beatrice is the founder of a consulting firm. She also works for New York’s computer software company Afiniti.

Engaged/Fiancé

In 2010, Princess Beatrice began a relationship with Virgin Galactic businessman and former Uber executive Dave Clark. Beatrice had met Dave through her cousin Prince William. Unfortunately, in July 2016, after 10 years of being together, they broke up.

To add salt to injury, Clark later in 2016 entered into a relationship with American advertising executive Lynn Anderson and just about a year after dating, they announced their engagement on Instagram.

When Beatrice’s younger sister Princess Eugenie in early 2018 announced her engagement to her flame of about 10 years, James Brooksbank, the public was quick to point out that Princess Beatrice was the only remaining female British royal of marriable age who was still single. Here is to hoping that her prince finds her soon.
