The very successful TV show, Search Party, draws its precedence from everyday situations in real life. The comic style has been described as a dark comedy as it satirically highlights issues that most find difficult to talk about. It was created by Charles Rogers, Sarah-Violet Bliss, and Michael Showalter. The first two seasons were distributed by TBS but it was announced in October 2019 that it has been moved to HBO Max with the third season set to be released in 2020. The first and second seasons have been well received and holds 100% and 96% respectively on Rotten Tomatoes with generally favorable reviews.

The series follows the life of Dory Sief, a New York City resident, and her friends as they go in search of a college acquaintance of Dory who has suddenly disappeared. It also highlights the struggles of an everyday woman. Search Party Cast includes some of the most talented in the genre of comedy.

Alia Shawkat as Dory Sief

Alia is the daughter of film producer – Tony Shawkat and is known for her versatility. She is an artist who loves to paint and has participated in several gallery shows. She features as the main character in this series whose life seems to be moving at a slow pace. Besides being stuck in an unfulfilled relationship, she is also stuck at her degrading job as a personal assistant to a rich housewife. When her college acquaintance goes missing, it gives her a new sense of purpose to find her and she invites her friends to help her with the search.

For her role, she won a Gracie Award for Breakthrough Role in 2017 and has previously won a ‘Young Artist Award’ for her outstanding performance in the series Arrested Development which also earned her a SAGA nomination.

John Reynolds as Drew Gardner

He is an upcoming actor who began his acting career in the Annoyance Theatre, Chicago. He has featured in Stranger Things (2016- present) and Four Weddings and a Funeral (2019). His role as a member of the Search Party Cast is one of the most prominent he has had in his career and he features as the very boring boyfriend of Dory who joins her in the search for Chantal.

Meredith Hagner as Portia Davenport

Meredith’s screen debut was in As the World Turns (2008-2010) which earned her a Daytime Emmy Awards nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 2009. She has received lots of praise for her portrayal of Portia, the shallow but lovable narcissist actress who is surprisingly good at getting information. Her character is flighty and desperate for the spotlight. In 2016, her portrayal of Portia was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of their “20 Best TV Characters”

John Early as Elliott Goss

John is an established comedian and actor. He studied acting at New York University and has been described as one of the best parts of this TV series. Asides his role as Elliot – a gay, self-diagnosed narcissist who is good at detective work.

John appeared in the film Fort Tilden and in 30 Rock as Jenna Maroney’s son. John has a variety show “Literally Me” with which he tours around the country. He also hosts a monthly event called Showgasm at the Ars Nova, New York City.

Brandon Micheal Hall as Julian Marcus

Brandon studied drama at the Juilliard School, New York City and graduated in 2015. He began to act immediately he graduated and has had a lot of successful opportunities. Asides his role in this series where he features as Dory’s ex-boyfriend. He has a main role in the TV Series God Befriended Me and has featured in films like Monster Party, Lez Bomb, The Airport Run.
