There is one thing that has come to be known with each member of the Trump inner circle; they are often ready to wage any war for the boss with a loyalty that is quite surprising. This also can be said about Corey Lewandowski who was a close associate to the President.

He is an experienced political operative and lobbyist who has helped formulate and execute strategies that have seen a few senators and congressmen to power. In the build-up to the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, he attempted adding the White House to his resume as a political strategist with a candidate as unorthodox as Donald Trump. Years later, his story is still interesting to tell.

The Rise of Corey Lewandowski

A man of Polish descent born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, Corey Lewandowsky trained in the political field. He respectively holds a BSc and MSc in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts and the American University in Washington DC.

He got involved in politics in an elective capacity for the first time when he was still a student at the University of Massachusetts: he ran for an open seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. His bid was not successful as he was defeated by Democrat Thomas Golden Jr. who grew up on the same street as Corey.

Not done with politics, he decided to lead the campaigns of others when he was studying for his Master’s Degree in Washington. He made a list of all members of the Congress who had won their elections with less than 55% of the votes cast. He contacted them with a promise to give them better numbers in the next polls. His attempts yielded nothing until he met Ohio Republican Congressman Bob Ney, who hired him to run his campaign. Ney won by 60% and he made Corey his administrative assistant from December 1997 to February 2001.

Other Jobs He Did Before Working for Trump

The next job of Corey Lewandowski was with the Republican National Committee. He was hired to oversee the legislative/political affairs’ office in the North East. He was soon back to what he loved when he was brought into the campaign team for the re-election of New Hampshire senator, Robert Smith in 2002. He served as the Campaign Manager and Communications Director.

The former Trump man worked as East Coast Regional Director and later served as the National Director of Voter Registration at Americans for Prosperity between 2008 and 2014.

With Donald Trumps’ eyes set on becoming the president of the United States, a close associate of his recommended Lewandowski as the man to help him achieve that. The two men met in Trump Tower in 2014 and immediately, they struck a likeness for each other. On the spot, Trump named him his campaign manager.

What Happened to His Relationship with Donald Trump?

Trump is never stingy with praises or criticisms. He lavished the former on Lewandowsky after he hired him. On his part, Corey allowed Trump to be himself while he continued with his work of trying to get the GOP frontrunner at the time into the white house.

As Campaign Manager, he was not far from controversy. The first sign that he was soon going to fall was when he was accused of physically manhandling a journalist. In March 2016, he was charged with one count of battery for physically manhandling a reporter, Michelle Fields.

From this point, his influence in the camp had started to wane and there were already rumors and speculations that he was on his way out after months of power play. In June 2016, Corey Lewandowski was said to have had a rather unpleasant clash with one of the most powerful men of the team, Paul Manafort. He was then shown the way out although he did not stutter in his support for Trump.

Where Is He Now?

He went on to become a political commentator with CNN, Fox News, and then One America News Network (OANN) but was later fired after he appeared on another network.

Ahead of the 2020 election, Corey Lewandowski had initially stated that he was considering to run for the office of the New Hampshire Senate and was even cheered on by the president. However, he later stated he was not running as his priorities are his family and ensuring that Trump is re-elected.

He enjoys a net worth of $5 million. While serving as Trump’s campaign manager, he earned $20,000 monthly which also contributed to his fortune.

Meet the Family of Corey Lewandowski

Corey Lewandowski met Alison Hardy when she was an 8th grader with him just a class ahead. The childhood romance blossomed through high school and college but for some unknown reason, Alison married one of Corey’s closest friends, Brian Kinney in 1998.

Tragedy struck when Brian boarded United Airlines Flight 175 at Logan International Airport Boston on September 11, 2001, to meet a client in California. The ill-fated flight was hijacked by terrorists and steered into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York.

United in grief, they rekindled their romance and got married in 2005. The couple alongside their four kids visit Kinney’s graveside every memorial day.
