Nothing could ever get scarier than waking up from a long coma only to see the world you left behind is now being taken over by zombies. Such is the case of former cop Rick Grimes, one of The Walking Dead famous Cast and characters. Rick Grimes finds his way back home and realizes that his wife and son are missing, he then leaves for Atlanta to locate his family and manages to escape being killed by zombies.

Despite losing some viewers following the horrific exist of some of the show’s cast, shows as popular as The Walking Dead, will always remain atop having garnered so many die-hard fans from various parts of the country. With over 17 million people viewing the show, this horror serial drama has received many award nominations including the Golden Globe Award and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best TV Series, Drama.

However, with the announcement of a renewed season on October 5, 2019, many of the show’s fans are concerned about the whereabouts of most of their favorite cast and characters. ‘The Walking Dead’ Famous Cast and Characters Who Left The TV Series 

Andrew Lincoln

Andrew Lincoln starred as the protagonist of The Walking Dead from its first season until its ninth season. He played the role of Rick Grimes, an ex-deputy sheriff. He is the husband of Lori Grimes and father of Carl Grimes.

Being the lead character of the series, everyone was surprised at Lincoln’s decision to leave the show. His reason for leaving was because he wants to spend more time with his family. Lincoln has two kids with his wife Gael Anderson. Lincoln’s family lives in England while the actor spent over half a year in George being cast in The Walking Dead. Since leaving the show, he has starred in Fear the Walking Dead and Ride with Norman Reedus.

Chandler Riggs

Chandler Riggs played the role of Carl Grimes, the son of Lori and Rick Grimes, as well as the older brother of Judith Grimes. The once innocent boy changes his perspective of the world when he finally sees how violent the world is. Carl appeared in The Walking Dead for eight seasons, from its first season till its eighth season. He was bitten by a walker which then made him commit suicide so as not to turn into a zombie, bringing his appearance on the show to a halt.

Leaving the show wasn’t a decision Riggs made, it was AMC’s decision to part ways with him. Riggs is currently playing a recurring role in A Million Little Things.

Steven Yeun

Steven Yeun played the role of Glenn Rhee on the show for 81 episodes, starring from its first season to its seventh season. Steve’s character is as a former pizza delivery boy who knows every inch of Atlanta. His knowledge of every shortcut in Atlanta made him an essential asset. It was Glenn who saved Rick’s life when the zombie apocalypse began and he helped Rick locate his family in Atlanta. Glenn was killed by Negan in the show’s seventh season.

Glenn’s death in The Walking Dead was all part of the script and there were no controversial reasons for Yeun leaving the show. Yeun is set to voice as a character in the 2020 TV show Invincible.

Lauren Cohan

Maggie Greene was played by Lauren Cohan. Maggie is the wife of Glenn Rhee and the daughter of Hershel. Lauren started starring on the show in its second season as a recurring character. At the start of the show’s third season, she started starring as the main character. Lauren left the show in its ninth season.

When she left The Walking Dead, Cohan explained she took that decision because she wanted to explore other things and she later starred as the main role in ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier. However, AMC has announced that Cohan would return to the show in its 11th season.

Jon Bernthal

Jon Bernthal portrayed Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead. Shane is a former police officer and was the partner and a close friend later turned rival to Rick Grimes. Jon made main cast appearance on the show’s first and second season and guest-starred on its third and ninth season.

Like many other casts who left the show, Jon Bernthal’s reason for leaving the show had no hidden details as it was scripted. He is set to star in the 2020 film The Many Saints of Newark.

Sarah Wayne Callies

Rick’s wife Lori Grimes was portrayed by American actress Sarah Wayne Callies. Lori had an affair with Shane Walsh after she thought her husband was dead and not coming back. It was her affair with Shane that turned the friendship between Rick and Shane into hatred.

Upon joining the show, Sarah always knew her character had an expiring date as according to the comics the show was adapted from, Lori’s fate was sealed. Sarah has since starred in TV shows such as Letterkenny and Unspeakable.

Despite the exit of most of the , The Walking Dead also includes some mind-blowing actor like playing the role of Daryl Dixon, as Michonne, Melissa McBrida as Carol Peletier and  as  Rosita Espinosa. Others on this list include Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Jefferey Dean Morgan, , Samantha Morton, and Ryan Hurst, to name a few.
