Khandi Alexander began her career as an actor in the 1980s, making her TV debut on FTV, a 1985 sketch-comedy program. Thanks to the show’s format, Alexander was able to act in different roles. While her acting career slowly took off, she got into choreography and dancing. She appeared as a dancer in late singer-songwriter Natalie Cole’s Pink Cadillac music video in 1988. One of her major moments was touring with the late Whitney Houston as part of the singer’s choreographic team during her 1988 – 1992 world tour.
