Is The Bombshell Movie A True Story?

The answer to the above question is a big fat YES. The upcoming film is based on actual events that took place at Fox News Network. It all began in 2016 when , a well-known face at the news network, came across Gabriel Sherman’s book titled The Loudest Voice in the Room.

The book which was a written biography of spoke of a female producer who claimed that Ailes offered her a pay increment in exchange for sex. Carlson then proceeded to file a lawsuit against Roger Ailes, the then Chairman and CEO of Fox News Network, on allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Gretchen Carlson claimed in the lawsuit that she filed that Roger sabotaged her career by firing her wrongly because she refused his sexual advances. The news anchor went further to claim that Ailes delayed her pay, made her schedule unfavourable for her and even went as far as denying her some hard-hitting interviews before firing her.

It was not long after Carlson sued the company and the founder that another employee of the company, , stepped forward with fresh accusations of physical abuse. Carlson and Kelly’s stories inspired confidence in the minds of several other female employees who also came out with similar accusations.

American mainstream media, armed with these allegations and accusations, escalated the whole issue. Roger Ailes, amidst pressure from the board of directors and the media, stepped down as Chairman and CEO of Fox News in 2016. He reportedly received a payout of about $40 million, much to the dislike of already raging women protesting against him.
