From Italy to France, Germany, Turkey, and the US, Brad Wanamaker has played in different professional basketball leagues and has been able to make a name for himself in almost all even though he has never spent more than two seasons in any. Who Is Brad Wanamaker?

Brad was born Bradley Daniel Wanamaker on July 25, 1989, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was raised alongside his twin brother Brian Wanamaker who was born 71 minutes before him and who is also a basketball player who plays for BC Vytis in the National Basketball League.

Birthed into the family of Brad Wanamaker, Sr. and Deborah Samuel, the junior Brad has 3 other siblings apart from his twin. Since he was a child, the Celtics man played on streetball courts with his father and brother. They played on almost all the courts in Philadelphia as they kept training.

For his education, Wanamaker attended the Roman Catholic High School from where he moved to the University of Pittsburgh while Brian moved to Central Connecticut State University before he transferred to the Lon Morris College. In his days of playing for his high school, Brad was named Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Daily News as a high school senior. More so, together with his brother, they aided the high school team to achieve a 29-3 record while also earning a place on the top-20 national ranking.

One more interesting thing about the two brothers apart from playing in high school together is that even though they both didn’t attend the same college, they made stops in Italy, France, Germany, and Turkey as they took on the sports they grew up playing.

Although he had a rather good college career, he was unable to get drafted in the 2011 NBA Draft. Even after he became only the second player in program history to record stats of 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists in the least. This saw him start his career in Italy where he played for Banca Teramo Basket and Fulgor Libertas Forli from 2011 to 2012. He was soon back to the United States where he played in the NBA G League for the Austin Spurs in 2012.

The French top league, LNB Pro A, became his next destination after he signed for the Limoges CSP with which he played from 2012 to 2013. The years to come saw him playing for Giorgio Tesi Pistoia in Turkey, Brose Baskets in Germany, Darüşşafaka S.K. in Turkey, and Fenerbahçe Basketball. In 2018, he was given a year’s contract with the Boston Celtics.

Looking at his college career that spanned from 2007 to 2011, Brad Wanamaker played 134 games starting in 68. Averaging 8.1 points per game, he made .2 blocks on the average, 1.0 steals, 3.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds.

In the Euro league, he played 94 games, starting in 82 and having an average of 29.5, playing for Brose Bamberg, Darüşşafaka, and Fenerbahçe. Recording an average of 13.5 games per game, Brad also had 1.4 steals, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and .844 percent free throw per game.
