Carey Mulligan was born to Nano Booth and Stephen Mulligan on Tuesday, May 28, 1985, in Westminster, London, England. Her Dad worked as a Hotel manager while her mother worked as a University lecturer. Incidentally, Carey Mulligan shares similar birthday with notable personalities like US Republicans and Rudy Giuliani, American Football Star author of James Bond series Ian Fleming and former Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford.

She attended Woldingham School, a Roman Catholic independent school for girls as well as International School of Dusseldorf. Carey has an older brother, Owain who was a former Captain in the British Army; he served in Afghanistan and Iraq.
