Sara Paxton is an American-born TV and film actress, model and musician. As a teenager, Paxton got her acting breakthrough playing the main character in the family comedy series Darcy’s Wild Life (2004-06). She later starred alongside and JoJo in the teen fantasy film Aquamarine (2006).
The talented actress also played the lead role in Disney’s Return to Halloweentown (2006) and starred in the comedy film Superhero Movie (2008) alongside , , and Regina Hall. Paxton is also well known for her role in the 2009 horror film The Last House on the Left where she starred as the final girl Mari Collingwood. Since 1999, Sara Paxton has lent her voice to several characters on the popular animated sitcom SpongeBob SquarePants.

Sara Paxton was born on April 25, 1988, in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles to Lucia and Steve Paxton. The young Paxton was raised in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, California. Instead of getting homeschooled, she opted to study at El Camino Real High, a public high school located in the Woodland Hills district of the San Fernando Valley. She graduated from high school in June 2006. Paxton’s plans of attending college at that time were delayed due to her very busy acting career.
Sara Paxton’s acting career began at a very early age when she got to feature in TV ads, television shows and also in musical theatre. She marked her feature film debut in the 1997 hit comedy film Liar Liar. This was promptly followed by other TV and movie roles in the late 90s and into the 2000s. She appeared in guest roles on the soap opera Passions (1999) and also on the forensic crime drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2002). She also had recurring roles in the sitcom Greetings from Tucson (2002–03) and on the drama series Summerland (2004).
On the big screen, Sara Paxton’s earlier acting credits include Disney’s comedy film Hounded (2001) alongside , Craig Kirkwood, and . She equally appeared in the short film Haunted Lighthouse (2003) as well as the teen comedy film Sleepover (2004). Also in 2004, Paxton landed her breakthrough role in the American-Canadian series Darcy’s Wild Life. The talented actress appeared in the main role of Darcy Field throughout the 2-season run of the series and for which she received a 2006 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.
When Darcy’s Wild Life ended in 2006, Sara Paxton landed lead roles in the telefilms Return to Halloweentown (2006), The Party Never Stops: Diary of a Binge Drinker (2007) and Blue-Eyed Butcher (2012). On the big screen, Paxton appeared in the teen comedy film Sydney White (2007) alongside Amanda Bynes. She also had starring roles in the horror films The Innkeepers (2011) and Shark Night (2011).
Sara Paxton has equally guest-starred on the drama series How to Get Away with Murder (2014). In 2016, she had a recurring role as Alicia Barnes in the detective drama series Murder in the First. In 2017, she scored a guest spot in the revival of the horror drama series Twin Peaks.

Sara Paxton is her parents’ only child. Her mother, Lucia (née Menchaca Zuckerman) was born in Mexico to Dutch-Jewish parents. She is a dentist. Her father Steve Paxton is a business executive. He has English, Irish, Scottish and a minute degree of French ancestry. He converted to Judaism when he married Paxton’s mother.
Theirs is a close-knit Jewish family. However, owing to Sara Paxton’s busy acting career, she missed out on the Bat Mitzvah coming of age Jewish ritual for girls.
