Some of DC’s other superheroes include Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Aquaman, Black Canary, The Green Arrow, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Starfire, Raven, Zatanna, John Constantine, and Vixen.

Who Is Supergirl?

Supergirl, a.k.a Kara Zor-El, is Superman’s cousin as previously mentioned. The character was first introduced in 1959. Since then the character has been rebooted several times and has had different backstories and origin stories.

However, the most prominent iteration of the character is the version that has been seen in recent live-action series whereby Kara Zor-El was put in a spaceship by her parents during the final moments before the destruction of Krypton, (Kara’s home planet). She was supposed to vacate Krypton with her infant cousin Kal-El (Superman). However, during their escape, her ship got knocked off course and she became trapped in the phantom zone, where time stands still. By the time she manages to escape the phantom zone and make it to earth, searching for her cousin – Kal-El had already grown up to become Superman, meanwhile, Kara has not aged a day – making Superman many years her senior.

After finding his cousin and realizing he is not the last Kryptonian, he takes her under his wings and teaches her how to become a superhero and she evolved to the iconic superhero she is today, Supergirl.

A different version of this story was featured on the hit prequel series Smallville and also on the CW show, Supergirl. Some of the actresses who have played the live action version of the superhero include Helen Slater, and Laura Vandervoort.
