Zulay was born on May 29, 1979, in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia by Columbian parents. She spent most of her early days in her birth country up till she became a teenager at which time she and her family emigrated to New Jersey, the United States of America. She is of American-Colombian nationality. From a picture the Columbian born actress posted on her Instagram account on December 8, 2014, we learned that her mother’s name is Luz Mery and she has a great love for her family, cherishing every moment she spends with them.

In the U.S of A, the actress completed her high school education before joining the United States Army where she served for three years before opting for a career change. At this time, Zulay Henao enrolled to study at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts where she bagged a diploma in acting from the institution afterward. Looking at this now, it seemed impossible how someone who started off as a soldier would make a quick career change into something less combative as acting and quickly excel at it. The ex-soldier can, therefore, be said to have had a long interest in acting.

A rumor made it round that she was dating Joel Rush and that their relationship started when they were both casts on the show If Loving You is Wrong. Her fans and well-wishers alike held the belief that they took their matching up in the 2014 show to real life and were an item for each other at that time.

Well, this speculation failed itself as Joe Rush got married to a lady now known as Alexandria Rush and soon had a baby with her.

Online news publications carried the tidings in May 2009 but Henao’s agent shocked people when the agent stated that Zulay was not engaged to Terrence that in fact she wasn’t even dating him.

There was no reaction from Terrence in response to this claim by Henao’s agent neither was there any further comments on it from Zulay’s end. At best, they ended their relationship as adults and didn’t make a mess of it.
