Love, they say, can be found anywhere, and if that means on the set of a reality show, so it is. When Married At First Sight (MAFS) was created, it was to bring love-seeking strangers together through matchmaking, with the hope that they’ll find a soul mate in each other. The match-made couples are also expected to live out the rest of their days in a happily married union. Whether this has been the case so far is debatable even as Married at First Sight Season 10 & 11 is set to come on air soon.
MAFS originated from Denmark as Gift Ved Første Blik. It was adapted in the US in 2014 and has since run nine seasons, airing 64 episodes. The show follows a selected group of singles in search of love. They are matched together by experts and meet each other for the first time at the altar. These brave souls then take the next bold step to wed. They would go on an expense-paid honeymoon, continue to learn about each other, return home, live as couples for two months, and then decide whether to stay married or get divorced.
Not surprising, the concept has been considered daring and shocking, but relative success may have kept the show on this long. It has since been adapted in 16 countries to include Germany, Brazil, South Africa and more. It is produced by Kinetic Content and has five spinoffs.
Will There Be Married at First Sight Season 10 &11?
The intrigue that characterized Season 9 of the show cannot be easily forgotten. It happened to have been MAFS’ most outstanding season, attracting over 1.5 million viewers on the final day.
Decision Day saw two of the four couples; Elizabeth/Jamie and Deona/Gregory decide to stay married. Iris/Keith and Amber/Matthew on the other hand, called it quits.
The success of that season gives the show’s creators some sense of confidence and hope of greater things ahead and for viewers, it will be cheering to know that the show has been renewed for Seasons 10 and 11. This was made known by Lifetime on September 20, 2019
When Will the TV Series Be Out?
Confirming the return of Married At First Sight season 10 & 11 Lifetime says the new seasons would premiere on January 1st, 2020 with a large cast. Season 10 will feature five couples from Washington DC, while season 11 will feature 5 participants from New Orleans. Together, they’ll consist of 17 episodes lasting two hours each.
The new season is expected to pack a punch. Viewers can expect more drama, intrigues, and surprises. They’ll get close and personal with participating couples, following their journeys in more detail.
Relationship cast experts remain sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, pastor/marriage counselor Calvin Robertson, and Rachel DeAlto, communication/relationship expert. A deviation from previous outings of just three or four couples, this season is billed to be bigger and better.

1. More than 16,000 People Auditioned for Season One
Though this number was eventually whittled down, the sheer volume of applications received in its debut season was note-worthy. The popularity of reality TV and the increasing number of people in search of love may have been a factor.

It may be surprising, but the show’s “I do” isn’t just for show, it is real. The couples in question are issued licenses they have signed that are legal. As a result, prenups are included in the process to minimize risks.
3. Divorcing Couples Get a Helping Hand but on one Condition
The creators may desire for couples to stay married long after the show but things don’t often go as planned. Couples intending to go for a divorce and needing the show to shoulder some costs will have to do so within a given time frame or risk going at it themselves.
4. It has Produced more Long-Lasting Relationships than Similar Shows
When it comes to which reality show has produced more lasting couples, MAFS has done a lot better. Its first three seasons saw a 22% success rate when compared with the likes of The Bachelor and Bachelorette. Perhaps it’s that couples go a step more to become man and wife that gives it this edge.

Chris Coelen, the producer for MAFS US version, knows a thing or two about each participant’s position. He met his wife on a blind date. He, therefore, is no stranger to finding love unconventionally.
