Jared Kushner Bio/Wiki
Kushner was born January 10, 1981, in Livingston, New Jersey with the birth name Jared Corey Kushner. He attended the Frisch, a modern orthodox yeshiva high school in Paramus, New Jersey after which he was enrolled at Harvard University in 1999 and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government. He also attended New York University and graduated in 2007 with a J.D. and M.B.A. degree.
Jared worked as an intern at Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau’s office, and also at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. His interest in business can be traced back to his college days when he started his career as a real estate developer in Harvard, buying and selling properties in Somerville, Massachusetts. He became CEO of Kushner which is his father’s business barely two years after he graduated from Harvard as a result of his father’s arrest and two-year prison sentence. He obviously followed in the footsteps of his father who is also a real estate developer.
Politics and Other Ventures
Young Kushner ventured into publishing in his 20’s when he purchased The New York Observer in 2006 and transformed the publishing method to tabloid form. Known for his risk-taking traits in business, he purchased an office space in Manhattan at 666 Fifth Avenue worth $1.8 billion and purchased more than half of the Times Square Building from Africa Israel Investments Limited for $295 million. Added to his history of making risky calls is Kushner’s venture into politics during his father-in-law Donald Trumps presidential campaign.
With little to no experience in the political scene, Kushner was fully involved in the strategic planning and execution of current President Donald Trump’s campaign and was even praised on Forbes magazine as the guy who got Trump elected with a picture of his face on the cover of the magazine. He is said to have influenced major decisions like hirings and firings as well as appointments and demotions at the time.
In January 2017, Kushner was named a Senior Adviser to President Donald Trump even though it was speculated that he won’t be part of the presidential team due to his close relationship to the President as his son-in-law on one hand and on the other hand because he comes from a purely Democrat family.
Rumors and Controversy
Kushner’s appointment as Senior Adviser was perceived as an act of nepotism and it caused a lot of uproar in the country. However, no strong reasons were presented for his dismissal hence he still retains the position to date.
The Senior Adviser was also mentioned in Russian Investigation concerning alleged claims of their interference in the 2016 presidential election. Kushner denied any form of collusion with the Russian government and provided details he had with all the meetings with the Russians during that period clearly stating that 3 out of the 4 meetings were business inclined. It was just one of the meetings with a Russian Lawyer that was political in nature and it was not a case of collusion rather, it was a very revealing one that brought to the limelight shady information about presidential opponent Hillary Clinton.
Furthermore, Kushner and Ivanka Trump have been accused of not stating all their properties on Kushner’s public financial disclosure forms. This was however dismissed by a White House Spokesman stating that the pair have duly complied with all necessary legal asset declaration regulations.
