Many movies and television series have tried to take us on a journey of what life would be like in the event of an apocalypse, and none makes it quiet as vivid as The Walking Dead. The show is post-apocalyptic horror-themed, and it details the life of human survivors after a zombie apocalypse, who have to confront zombies – popularly called “Walkers” in order to stay alive. The show has been highly successful since its debut on the AMC Network on the 31st of October 2010. With the debut of the 10th season on the 6th of October 2019, fans have become increasingly curious about the subsequent Season 11 of The Walking Dead.

Is Season 11 Going to be the Last of “The Walking Dead”?

Considering the erratic nature of American TV shows, this question is quite a tough one to answer. It is no longer news that season 11 of The Walking Dead will happen, Angela Kang laid that issue to rest when she announced at New York’s Comic-Con on October 5, 2019, that the show has been renewed for another season.

However to know or predict the future of the show beyond the 11th season, one would have to travel back in time to 2014, when David Alpert – one of the Executive Producers of The Walking Dead, said that the source material from which they got the inspiration for the television show had enough resource to get them going for the next 7 years. He said that they knew the direction they’d want for season 11 and 12 of the show.

Josh Sapan, CEO of AMC revealed in 2018 that the network plans to continue airing the show and its other franchises for the next 10 years – which would probably take the television show into its 19th season. Scott M. Gimple, a former show-runner of the television show said a few years back that he believed that the show can continue for 20 more seasons.

From all these, it is fair to deduce that Season 11 of The Walking Dead will definitely not be the end of the show; but that said, with American TV shows, you never really know as there are more factors other than having a story to tell that determine whether or not a TV show is to continue or be canceled. The challenge before the writers, producers, and even the AMC network is, whether they will be able to re-jig the storyline to continue to win over more fans and viewers.
