Kaitlin Doubleday, however, does not belong to this elite crop as she is not as known as the likes of and . Nevertheless, she efficiently utilized her time on the show to make a bigger deal of her career, a role that has opened doors for her since its inception.

The American actress has been acting professionally since 2002 and is mostly known for her work on Catch Me If You Can, Empire, Waiting…, and Nashville.

Kaitlin Doubleday: Biography and Early Life

Kaitlin Janette Doubleday did not need to relocate to Los Angeles to make a career for herself in Hollywood like many actors and actresses; she was born in the entertainment capital city of the world. Unsurprisingly, she gets her acting genes from her actor father, Frank Doubleday and filmmaker mother, Christina Hart. She also has an actress sister, Portia Doubleday.

Born on July 19, 1984, the actress had her high school education at Hamilton High School where she enrolled in the institution’s Music Academy.

The actress comes from a show business family and they have always supported each other’s individual careers. Sadly, her father, Frank died in 2018 and the age of 73.

Her Personal Profile 

Kaitlin Doubleday got married in May 2016 to Devin Lucien, a DJ from Paris. It is not clear where or how they met. However, the couple started dating sometime in 2015. Their wedding ceremony had a rustic, romantic theme and was held in an open-air venue at Ventana Inn and Spa in Big Sur, California. The ceremony started at 6 pm and continued on well into the night. It was a small ceremony with family and friends, including some of the cast of Empire.

Career Highlights

In 2002, the actress earned her acting debut in an episode of the CBS series Without a Trace. She followed it up in the same year with a feature film role in Catch Me If You Can, where she played Joanna.

She continued to play minor roles in movies and series like Strong Medicine (2003), Cold Case (2004), and Freshman Orientation (2004). In 2005, she was cast as Amy in her first supporting role on Waiting…(2005) and followed it up with The TV Set (2006) and Accepted (2006).

The following year, Kaitlin Doubleday played Kate McKinney in ABC’s comedy series Cavemen. This was her longest running participation in a tv series at the time. She had a brief nine-episode stint on the series, largely due to its negative reviews and subsequent cancellation.

The actress continued to appear on a slew of TV series in the years that followed. Some of them include Brothers & Sisters (2009), Criminal Mind (2010), Bones (2009), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2011), Hung (2011), Drop Dead Diva (2011), Witches of East End (2013), Mixology (2014), and Scary Endings (2017).

In 2015, she became part of the cast of Empire in its first season. She played Rhonda Lyon, wife of Lucius Lyon’s first son André, played by . Other stars on the show include who played Jamal,  who played Hakeem,  who played Becky, Taraji Henson who starred as Cookie, Malik Yoba as Vernon Turner, Seraya Ranee McNeill as Tiana, Terrence Howard as Lucius, and as Anika, among others.

 

While on the ultra-successful series, Kaitlin Doubleday made out time to involve herself in other projects. She was Amy in John Asher’s A Boy Called Po (2016). The film was a moving tale of a single father raising his son who was suffering from autism. In the same year, she also made a guest appearance on the improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway.

In 2017, the actress began work on CMT’s musical drama Nashville as the character Jessie Caine who is a musician and songwriter. Her character was introduced in the fifth season of the series. The show features an ensemble cast of actors and actresses like  (Juliette Barnes), Clare Bowen (Scarlett O’Connor), Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne),  (Avery Barkley), and Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott).

Her non-acting appearances have also seen her show up as a guest on shows like Masterchef (2016), Dish Nation (2016), Fashion Police (2016), The 5th Annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards (2015), The 47th NAACP Image Awards (2016), Entertainment Tonight (2015, 2016), and NashChat (2017).
