Katherine Pine Biography – Age and Family Background

Born on September 24, 1972, in Los Angeles, California, Katherine Gwynne Pine is the daughter of Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford, both of whom were Hollywood actors. Also raised in California, actress Pine was a student of a high school near her hometown. However, the name of her school has not been disclosed and remains unknown. She is the older sister of handsome and popular actor, Chris Pine and they are both from a family of veteran Hollywood actors. Interestingly, they are the grandchildren of late veteran actors Anne Gwynne and Max M. Gilford.

Katherine’s maternal grandfather Gilford was an actor known for the 1959 movie Mustang! He was also a lawyer, producer and a president of the Hollywood Bar Association in his lifetime. His wife Anne Gwynne (Katherine’s maternal grandmother) is remembered for her star role in Ride ‘Em Cowboy (1942) and House of Frankenstein (1944) as well as the film series Public Prosecutor (1947 – 1948). Her father Robert Pine, is best known for playing Sergeant Joseph Getraer in the police-drama CHiPs (1998) while her mother Gloria Gwynne was an actress in the 1970s and 1980s who made appearances in several TV series. However, after retiring from acting in 1987, she went on to become a psychotherapist.

Coming from a family with such history in Hollywood, it was only natural for Katherine Pine and her brother to follow the footsteps of their parents. Though not a very popular name in the industry, Katherine tried her luck with acting and doesn’t have many film credits to her name. In the year 1997, she was cast for a role in the movie Heavy Gear which opened the doors of opportunities for her. Her next job was in 1998 in the movie CHiPs’ 99. In the same year, she was cast for a role in another movie Love Boat: The Next Wave.
